How much "Egg" is to much ?

Hi Folks, my stupidity and careless ways continue it seems with a Polish Blank.

Not having ever to egg a receiver hole, to fit a trunnion (Lucky, or used to be ), Don't know the parameters for Ok or to much.

Removed rear rivets last night and measured what I should have to begin with. As a result the trunion is now where it should be and as you can see, it's half a hole out.

To much to egg ?, refill with weld and redrill ?(don't have the right Welder though or the skill to risk that)

What to do ?? Help please.

If the rivit head covers it. It's cool with me. If it doesn't?........................Get a rivit with a bigger head!! Heh...Heh

I would not bother to weld & re-drill. It's an AK.. As cheap as those shells are, I'd replace that before welding on it.

Fair point , I should crack out another shell and start again. Got a few left.

I've seen worse.

Put your rivit in, you will be ok as long as they lock up good and tight.

If you decide to go with a different receiver dont throw that one out, it can be repaired. Some copper backing and a mig or tig will fix it right up. I ought to know, I've screwed up more than one.

Yep, kept all my screw ups, got their own box even.

Only have a cheap HF wire welder so I'll egg and re-rivet and see how it goes.

Keep me busy I guess.

I'll post result. Thanks Guys.

The bottom hole is good to go, the top one looks a good bit off but I'd still try it. Like Bradrock said, open it up and see if the rivet head covers it, but I think it'll be ok even if it doesn't.

Yeah i would just go ahead and try it. All of the pre-drilled Nodaks i've built have been off a similar amount.

The holes in fact are spot on , the Trunion for the photo was just slapped in un supported for the Pic.

All this because I didn't measure out the Top cover. Dumb.
