Default My first build -- in basic black

Here's pics of my first build. NDS receiver, G2 FCG, ATI stock & front guard, US muzzle brake. Couldn't help myself. Had to put my girlie touch on it.

looks nice, what kind of finish did you use?

I used Brownells Aluma-Hyde II in Matte Black.

Nice finish, but I think when I put the second coat on I may have put it on a little thicker than I should have.

Other than snap caps, I haven't live-fired it yet. Hoping to get out this weekend.

Enjoy and give us a range report!

What made you interested in building an AK?

My son originally got me interested in AK's. I bought my first AK (SAR-1) at a gun show and decided that I could make a much nicer one. I really like the simplicity of the design and the ease of disassembly and re-assembly. Not to mention that I tend to be "frugal". I like the fact that I can buy AK ammo for about .15/round.

My hubby & I own a semi-trailer repair business, so I had access to darn near everything I needed to do this rivet build. I don't shy away from new projects, and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. My hubby's really proud because he had his doubts when he saw the bag of dirty cosmo'd parts that I would be able to turn it into a real nice gun.

    Thanks for asking.

See? Without a doubt, we got the hottest chicks anywhere in the world.
Michigan rules. No fires, no floods, no droughts, no hurricanes, no tornados (errr, well one or two tornados) but we got gun building moms.
