cz-26 semi auto
I recently bought a cz-26 parts kit from centerfire systems and have been toying with the idea of building it into a semi-auto. Besides the 80% reciever, what am I going to need and how hard is it going to be to do this. This will be my first build if I go through with it...
Like all open bolt subguns, you have to convert it to closed bolt. Two common methods are to make it striker fired like an Uzi or adapt an existing hammer mechanism to fit inside the gun. Usually, the ID of the tube is also smaller to prohibit an FA bolt from fitting, or a blocking bar and corresponding slotted bolt can be used like on an Uzi. Try a search over at weaponeer.net, they have some specific info on this conversion IIRC.

I just got one of these kits and have been thinking about it all day.
It seems do-able if:
1:The front bottom of the bolt was milled off like the UZI's.
2:The bottom-rear of the bolt was welded up, filling in the ejector rod hole and the corner of the bolt cut on the opposite side.
3:The ejector rod was replaced by a rectangular bar welded to the receiver tube with a CZ-52 pistol (Glock ?) ejector pinned on.
This would also double as the rear blocking bar.
4:Use a hammer / fireing pin set up like that used in the SEMI MAC-10's.
5:Use a stirrup trigger bar / Disconnector set up similar to that of the 1911 pistol.
This has the advantage of having no holes in the bottom of the receiver and the trigger pivot welded on where the FA sear hole is but the disadvantage is that whole thing would have to be made from scratch.
6:Weld a second blocking bar at the front bottom of the receiver at the trunnion so a FA bolt wouldn't go into battery(overkill?)
7:Perminatly fix a 5" fake can or flash suppressor.

I had the idea of doing it the same as the semi-uzi with a floating firing pin and a modified AR15 trigger group. THere would be no need for a hammer as the uzi fuctions.
I will be using a reduced diameter bolt and the Prexis semi tube.
How would you solve the problem of the firing pin hole running into the ejector hole?

The same as the UZI the firing pin will be connected to a separate piece.
That's what I was planning to do before I bought my kit, but you can't without severly weakening the bolt.
The bolt to maximize feeding reliability runs deeply through the mag. The top of the mag lip clearance slot is about 4/5 to the top of the bolt face and the bolt face is only a few thousandths wider than the cartridge case. The ejector rod hole is over 1/8inch wide, starts literally right next to the fixed fireing pin at the 4'o clock position and breaks out at the left mag lip slot.
If you drill a hole for the fireing pin, the only metal that would hold the bottom 3/4 of the bolt face on would be half as wide as of the back of a 7.62TOK round, primer not included:eek:
Anyone else want to build it?
Somebody somewhere will get it together on these tube guns.
This project is on the back burner for the moment.
