I'm trying to fulfill my ten-post requirement tonight, thus my comment on this subject.
My opinion: Suomis be cool. I've filled up a small corner in my closet with kits, and hope to follow Mr. Clark et. al. to M31 nirvana.
Just as soon, that is, as the MG42 is finished, and the house is remodeled, and the new shop is built, and . . . .
In the meantime, I'll have to content myself with the progress of the Suomi pioneers as they slay the many bugs that will certainly appear as the M31 SA protocol develops. Thanks to Mr. Clark, Prexis, and all the others who are doing the hard work!
Wow, it's getting really late. Don't think I'll make ten posts tonight. Nope.
By the way
Buy the way Greg Clark sells a great CD build book on the Soumi I got it & its a great buy lots of info to get you from start to finish & he also does alot of the conversion parts like the FCG & striker assembly so if your serious about building one I really recomend you get one alot of years of research went into building this gun & its a piece of work once its done.
Rocco- Thanks for the kind words!
At the risk of being too commercial - with the Prexis receiver and bolt plus my near drop in FCG conversions and striker assemblies, it is WAY easier to make one of these than it used to be.
Did you get the Yugo M-56 tutorial done yet?
Greg is right, the soumi is a LOT easier now than it was 4 years ago!!

if your a newbie:
start with a
AK style gun,
then maybe a sten or pps 43
then a ppsh41
then dp 28
just keep working your way up till your broke.
Greg's CD is a must have. Really lays out the process.
Ah Yes Broke its getting as so that I'm comfortable with it now. I have become Quite cleaver @ eating on the cheap also. Its amazing how little you can survive on when you have that new parts kit on the way.
The M-56 is done and now BATF APPROVED!
