HF TIG $ ?
Does $150 + S&H for a Harbor Freight inverter TIG/ARC welder sound about right?
It's the older model (red), the gas cut off is controlled by the machine, the newer one (blue) isn't. It only has a few hours on it, guessing 20'ish.
This pic is someone elses, I'll put up an actual pic if I post it in the classifieds.
sounds like a good deal to me... I would have gotten it if I had not alreay spent much more on an everlast tig.
good luck with the sale.
I had one of those and it was worth its weight in gold. I built dozens of guns and countless other projects with it. it never let me down. it is an ideal machine for the home builder.
Thank you both. I might have it sold already too.
Pirate, I remember your review on it, it's also were I borrowed the pic from. :D
If it hasn't sold...let me know.
Wow I was thinkin to stay away from HF welders.I did notice the tig with digi display was on sale 399,any feedback on that one?
There are two model TIGs with the digi display, I've heard good things about the early model (power switch is like a breaker), haven't heard anything about the newer one yet (power switch is just a large rocker style). I think they are the same but haven't looked at them close enough to know.
Here's the early one
Arc / TIG Welder with Digital Readout - 240 Volt
This model does have the High Frequency start, push button on the torch, people have converted them to the foot pedal setup.
I wonder what kind of duty cycle a machine like that has?
Dinky, which one do you mean? They range from 30-40% as far as I know.
Excuse my ingonance but aren't tig welders gas and less heat. So does this unit provide both arc and tig (with less heat and doesn;t need gas?). I'm only learning arc welding and this unit would be good to have if I could do tig welding but not sure I understand how these would work together.
Any advise for the novice welder?
