the "pig" FH on xm-177
this is what the "PIG" looks like on a 11.5" barrel. the pig is a krink style three piece FH for the ar-15 series.
it looks very much like the old moderator used back in the day.
a bit short for the ATF so you still have to have SBR stamp or pistol lower.
That thing is chunky! Can it be disassembled or is it solid? Whats the business end look like?
it has a funnel shaped cone and a threaded notched-ring that holds it together.
i don't have any more photos cause my main box went tits up.
these damn things are expensive $100 bill? they do a good job on a SBR though.
they direct the blast away from the shooter. makes it "seem" far less loud.
not at all like a can though.
i wouldn't say it is any better than what a krink has.
ii figure some of the machine shop guys here @ gunco can probably roll their own-- if they have seen a krink .
they are not hard to make. the easiest way to get a 4130 tube from an online sullpy company, turn a muzzle end piece. turn a cone align and weld
Dou you think it's worth the $100 for one? I did a SBR with a 11.5 barrel and damm it hurts to shoot with no hearing pro (only fired 2 rounds to get a feel for the sound) I was thinking a "PIG" might help
This does look very promising. I have been slowly making levang type comps for my guns specifficly for noise redirection away from the shooter. They work and aren't hard to make, but are time consuming without a dividing head. So this pig is basically a piece of 1.25" tube with a turned cone at the end? Whats the pitch of the cone?
i don't know if i would pay a $100 just to try one.
there is this guy on amazon.com that sells them for $39 --a bit more in the ball park.
lets say you have an 11.5" barrel. these are 3.5" --it would be nice if there was one that was 4.5" that way you could kill two birds with one stone,
get rid of some of the blast and get rid of a $200 stamp by blind pin & weld the FH on the barrel.
