Bought a Remington SPS-Tactical in .308 recently. Their Hogue Overmolded (should be "Overrated") leaves a lot to be desired. Been pondering what could be done to improve things.
The guys at Red Hawk Rifles fixed me up with a Bell & Carlson stock that's as stiff as the Hogue is rubbery. *I highly recommend these guys; they're great to do business with.
I wanted a detachable mag gun so a Pacific Tool & Gauge 'bottom metal" set-up w/ AICS mags was added. The B&C stock is so well reenforced that I had to open the stock up on my Bridgeport milling machine in order to accept the bottom metal.
My next buy was an SWFA scope. I settled on their SS10X42M w/mildot reticle.
*Another good company. Their reps know their stuff, are glad to answer questions, and let the scopes sell themselves. AND, they ship your purchase when they say they will.
Took it out to the range and with American Eagle (Federal) 150gr. FMJ/BT ammo I'm consistantly putting rounds all but through the same hole at 100yds.
Here's my rifle so far; enjoy the pictures.
Update; Harris 1A2-BRM Bi-pod added. If I miss with this guy, it's MY fault.
Very nice rifle, sounds like it's quite a shooter too.
I was looking for an update on SWFA. I remember they made a pretty big splash a few years back, but I haven't heard much on them recently. The buzz was that they were a very nice scope for the money. Is that still true?
Be sure to add a pic to the new bolt gun pic thread
Who did you order the bottom metal through?
jimmy, I got the bottom metal off GB from a guy who had made a group purchase but got stuck with a few when it was time for folks to pay for them.
Pacific Tool & Gauge still has them. Pacific Tool & Gauge, Inc. - Remington Performance Parts
7.63X39, The scope is great. Wasn't sure I was going to like the tall towers but one time out sold me. Micrometer-like markings that 'click' so you're sure you've made an adjustment without taking your eyes off the target.
SWFA SS 10x42 Tactical 30mm Riflescope
