Question So I posted up a pistol on Armslist....

And I get this message from a guy in kalifornia wanting to know if I will ship the pistol to his state. I told him yes, I'd ship for $20, but I would charge an extra $20 for having to deal with the extra paperwork to ship to ca.

He sends me an email asking me if I'd just ship straight to his house. I replied that since that was against Federal law, I thought he should look elsewhere for a pistol and I felt I should just go ahead and forward our emails to the BATF.

He sends me another email telling me he was "just making sure he was dealing with an honest person."

I think he's full of crap. So, should I blow it off, or should I go ahead and contact the atf?
    Thanks,
    J.C.

I think the less contact ATF has with the American Public the better.

    Are you a dealer?

Only dealers have to 'deal with extra paperwork' when shipping guns to California.

I agree. Why would you report some one to a federal agency who DID NOT commit a crime. Is he paying cash, maybe you should call the irs too.
In fact the guy probably IS from a federal agency trying to entrap you.
I would simply break contact instead of playing snitch.

Politely, with little drama, excuse yourself from the sale and deal with another buyer. It appears no actual crime was comitted, but there seems to be a potential here for some grief for both you.

Sounds like either a cop or maybe a wild eyed crazy who wants to take care of a few people!

Worst of all it could be some brain washed college liberal kid looking to his 15 Min. of fame by exposing another ( lop-hole ) on the (gun culture) for a college paper. Back out!

There's no loophole, transferring a BATFE-regulated firearm across state lines without a 4473 transfer is illegal, period.

Maybe you should shoot yourself with the pistol.

Was it a C and R pistol? Maybe he has the license or maybe he is an ffl.

Is that an attempt at making friends here? Seems like a bad choice for your second post.
