    Default Which flats

Which flats to use for a Rommy G AKM? Looking for inexpensive, with correct holes. And who is the best vender to buy from? Thanks for your opinions!

I like the AK-Builder flats as well, but it's not so important when you're building a Romanian G kit. Their measurements are very standard (one of the many reasons I love the Romanian G kits), and Tapco flats are drilled so as to come pretty close. The reason AK-Builder flats re prefered by so many builders is that AK bUilder doesn't drill the rivet holes. You have to do it for yourself. If you don't want to drill rivet holes, don't buy an AK-Builder flat. Having said that, I'll add that when you DO drill your own holes, they're usually spot-on. To drill your own holes, make the initial hole with a 1/8" bit, then use a 3mm reamer chucked into a Dremel tool to expand and round them out. It's time-consuming, but it's worth it to have perfect holes.

The Nodak-Spud flats are very good and they are made from 4130 steel.
