    Color me a bit jealous.
    Looks good.
Is the lower one based off a Maddi kit?

good eye! when i got the kit, i think a gorilla using his feet blindfolded demilled it with a grinder. so after looking at finished products of other AK builds I decided to go the a Khyber pass flavored AK. You can see my progress here.

    Gas Piston/Tube combinations and differences

It was my first AK build and the coolest thing we did was cut down the front sight to weld to the gas block.

I have a M85 in the process right now as well, I need to find time to turn down the barrel and do the extractor cut on it. After I'm done with the M85, I want to build another SBR sidefolder with a milled receiver.

Nice! I'm jealous too! Been wanting a SBR, just hard for me to get past that $200 stamp.
