muzzle device for a 7.62x25mm carbine?
I'm working on a 7.62x25mm ak carbine with an 18" barrel, and I was wondering what type of muzzle device to use, barrel will have regular AK 14/1 threads. I was strongly considering an ak74 type muzzle break, but I see most pistol caliber carbines have a "cuts compensator" type break usualy, just a simple break that vents some gas straight up, if they have any muzzle device at all. I know most pistol calibers don't have much gas pressure exiting the muzzle and so I'm wondering if the Ak74 type will be a poor choice. on the other hand 7.62x25mm is more of a firebreather than most pistol rounds, so maybe the ak74 muzzle break would be applicable? Any recomendations on what type of break to use?
M16 style birdcage?
All are available in 14x1LH threads.
You'll also figure that the 18" barrel is almost twice as long as the subgun barrels the cartridge was designed for, so you're gonna lose a lot of flash in that length.
Gratuitous picture (with some fancy flash hider of which I can't remember the name of)
unfortunately I'm in a state that still has a version of the AWB, so if I want detachable mags and a pistol grip then a flash hider is a no-no. Belive me I'd really like to put a krinkov beer-can type flash hider on this, but I can't bring myself to give up my pistol grip or settle for a fixed magazine.
Its' only there for looks really.
Just use the 74 version.
tired of idiots
I have to agree. go with the look you want, it aint FA so a brake is useless
