    Default Zastava M76 build

It has been awhile since I built a Zastava M76 rifle. I still have a couple of these kits to build. This one has an original Serbian barrel.

I riveted the bullet guide and the front of the trigger guard. Headspaced it and checked the feed and lock up.

Need to finish riveting the trigger guard and set the RSB and barrel pin.
The build is pretty simple like a milled AK. The optics rail takes a bit of rigging to set the rivets but not bad.
I plan to spray it with the new Dura Coat matte blue black finish I purchased at Knob Creek last week. We shall see.

Worked a few more hours on the M76.

Set the barrel pin and RSB pin.

Function checked the action, mag & feed & BHO..
    Test fit the furniture.

Finished the trigger guard rivets and the optics rail rivets.

Cut the bevel and fit the front receiver cover plate

Plan to use an ALG trigger and finish in Duracoat two part matte blue/black finish for a first time use of that product.
Probably after test fire and scope zero.

I bought the bulk Duracoat. Not the two in a can. Hope to paint it this week or early next week.

Nice work..as always. I usually hot blue my Yugo builds, but I do have one that I used blued black Duracoat on and it just doesn't look right when sitting next to the others. It's an excellent finish though.

I agree and have most of my Zastava rifles in blue finish as well.., a few M76's and others. This one I decided to paint. DuraCoat came out with the new (at least to me) two part matte blue/black finish I saw demo'd at Knob Creek in April. It looked good there., and I decided to give it a try and bought the bulk set for 4 firearms (they say). We shall see.

I never got into doing the blue work myself. Maybe I'll go there as I have a few milled Zastava type receivers and barrels I would like to have blued and the price can be substantial.
In more recent builds in AK74 or Polish or Russian AKM etc.,they are painted so KG GunKote or some other spray type etc., were the more common finishes.

What does it take to wrestle a kit from ya?
I can wrestle so lemmie know. A 76 would be nice.

It ain't the wrestle it is the money. The last one I have is an excellent example with original milspec barrel, milled front stub and I have a cut receiver as well as an ORF. Hanging on to that for a later sale or build., Dunno.
I was lucky to be in the right place after ORF was going under and Todd was still alive. Got to do some favorable purchases before the lawyers arrived.

APEX sells the kits without barrel or furniture and AWO sells the receivers. They might sell a kit as well. They got the 1500 kits from ORF in 2010. Green Mountain has USA barrels.

    I made one into a M76 carbine., AKM76>>

The last kit and a nice one>>
