Question on this M1A Bipod
Is there such a thing as a "correct" bipod for the M1A? I have seen this one which looks very sturdy from the pics:
From my limited search it appears this is probably a Chinese knock-off as there is an NCSTAR bipod that has a bolt-on clamp of some sort, making it a detachable bipod. This particular one at Amazon has a different clamping mechanism, so it looks like this one just clamps onto the rifle.
Yes I know Harris bipods are the de facto standard! So I guess what I'm asking is are these knock-offs of "real" bipods and if there is a purpose-built bipod for the M1A?
I have a harris bipod on mine. I almost bought an original M14 bipod about 12 years ago and it was $90 back then. IIRC they clamp on the gas cyllinder and I figured it would mar it up with use.
Thats it. I wouldn't be suprised if springfield is selling new made ones from who knows where. It seems like they ran through most of their USGI M14 parts a few years back and have been selling new made repro parts. The only non USGI part on my early 90's springfield is the receiver as far as I can tell.
lots of chinese copies out there
