Conservative v. Liberals
So thinking about this and trying to make sense of it. I was looking at the current situation and this is what I have come up with so far:
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one;
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns banned;
If a conservative doesn't like a tv show, he doesn't watch it;
If a liberal doesn't like a tv show, he wants it taken off the air;
If a conservative comes upon hard times, he thinks of ways to better his situation;
If a liberal comes up on hard time, he finds someone to blame and says they should take care of them;
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat;
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants to regulate the sale of meat or attempts to ban it alltogether;
If a conservative doesn't believe in God, he doesn't go to church;
If a liberal doesn't believe in God, he wants any mention of God or religion silenced (unless you aren't Christian, being anti-any other religion would make you culturally insensative)
If a white conservative doesn't like President Obama, it's becasue he is racist;
If a black liberal doesn't like President Bush, it's because President Bush is a racist...
Trying to put my finger on the pulse of things, but it seems to me liberals seem to view the world through the eyes of someone who has been wronged, by who I don't know. But try debating liberals and they follow the same script.
1) Argue flawed facts or statistics.
(These will almost always be proven wrong by anybody with even a little knowledge of a given topic)
2) Argue making things more fair for everyone, but make it an emotional argument.
(This is easily defeated as well usually by asking "What makes you the authority on what's fair for everybody else?" or a question of that nature)
3) Argue a belief or situation that is extremely personal and emotional to either:
A. Make the other person feel bad by telling them they have offended you. Or
B. Continue to tell the other person that they will never understand because they aren't in your shoes and do this until the other person apologizes or backs down (Hint: This will involve childhood or a child in some way shape or form)
By the time option 3 comes around, any smart person has already rolled their eyes and gotten out of the conversation becasue arguing with an idiot they will always bring you down to their level and defeat you with experiance.
What I have come to believe is trying to convince them or show them the ignorance of extreme liberal faith would be like them trying to convince you that 2+2=5. Your main goal should be to take their point into consideration and use it as a tool for your next engagement.
Still trying to perfect my methods of debating a liberal, but this is what I have so far. Don't try to defeat your opponent now, prepare to defeat them 10 years from now.
We are outnumbered but definitely not outgunned.
