Postak strange pmag gen 2 issue?

a strange oddity with the latest gen 2 pmag --

that replica colt 605 upper i built when i was testing it the bolt open often failed to hold the mag open on the last shot.

my first thought was -- i got these thermelt $4 mags from SMG -- so that has to be the problem.

later i tried again with the elander e-mag --bolt held open about half the time.

so i checked the lower sure enough the BHO had a couple travel issues.

i took the BHO parts off trimmed the offending pieces to get full travel and re-assembled the BHO in the lower.

this is the results --these mags hold the bolt open on last shot--

troy industrys battle mags, thermelts, c-products , elander e-mags, cmmg 40s, cprod 40s==

D&H about 50% of the time

mag pull gen 1 mags 100%

mag pull gen 2 mags 50% at best--

now here is where the real head spinner kicks in.
the same mags that don't hold the BHO open with this lower work with ALL the other lowers?--

    LOL

there has got to be something with this lower --but what could be off just enough to cause such goofy things with the BHO?

been playing around with the mags on other lowers--so far the work fine in everything else.

thought it might have been some kind of out of spec upper issue causing the BHO issue.

the upper is a very old colt slab-side i got for $20. it does have an out of speck front pin hole and a slightly angled fore and aft pin location.

the thing is the upper works well with the BHO on other lowers.

i got this TNW billet lower from CFS years ago for peanuts , never noticed any problems with it . in fact thought of it as one of my best lowers.

now it turns up "slightly " out of spec--wth?----LOL

i'll just keep the plastic mags out of it except for the thermelts--LOL!

    repaired the little "issue"

it wern't any of the mags pmag or other--

what it was is somehow that billet TNW lower that i got from CFS is just a little off in the BHO area.

i finally took the bolt hold open device off and added a tiny bead of weld to the area that contacts the mag like .0100--.0125 and that was just enough to make the BHO work with ALL mags--

so it was a lower issue. not a mag issue,

so much for CFS selling top of the line stuff --i should have known $79 for a billet lower it had to be off somewhere--LOL

LOL thats no lie-- welcome to quality products from CFS--LOL!

who was it that said there is no "fitting' in ar-15 building?

if everything is in spec there ain't -

-though lately i have had quite a few out of spec LPK stuff mostly from DPMS and CMMG. this is the first out of spec thing i have found on a lower--any lower.

so yea you do need to double check everything. the BHO being off is a minor thing - it being a tiny bit off was enough to make one think it was a mag problem. when in reality it was a issue with the lower--LOL

the pmags are fine --and even the cheap thermelts work when every thing fits correctly with the lower.
