    Default 5.45X39 Snap Cap

Cound not find any 5.45X39 snap caps for dry firing my AK74. Made some by grinding an Azoom .223 snap cap to the contour of a 5.45X39 milsurp round. Works great though the AK74 extractor is rough on the rim.

I looked everywhere for 5.45X39 snap caps a few years ago, even called zoom. They told me that they did not make them and had no intention of doing so anytime soon.
At the time, there were a few people looking for them. One of the members here offered to make some dummy rounds. he just pressed new bullets into fired cartridges.
They were short money, IIRC I paid like $7-$8 for 5 of them. I wish I could remember who it was. Not too many people have reloading dies for that caliber.

Just pry out the primers and set part of a pencil eraser in there.

This was the easiest way for me to do it, already had some .223 snap caps. Just used my bench grinder.

Zoom6zoom's idea was thinking, or fill in the primer pocket with RTV.
