    Talking scope "deals"

the rules for the scope deals

#1 they got to be a good scope of reasonably good quality.

#2 they got be be a good % off list price --at least 30% but 50% is better!

    # 3 the scope has to be adaptable to the ar-15 -- nothing off a m1 tank or a U-boat!

$135 for a vortex diamondback--- very good glass , not as good as the $175 vortex vipers from a year or so ago--but still a very nice scope for $

hers is another super deal-- only thing is it is a big 3-9x supposed to be the same as a grand slam for $99! tough to pass on for $99!--
a 3-9 scope is a bit big for an ar though-- some of the guys running long range from the bench should check out natchez sale on weavers many are 1/3dr of list price!

I have a Pentax 3-9x40 Gameseeker I picked up cheap at SG a few years ago, plan to mount on a bolt gun one of these days. Glass is nice and bright and clear. They call the reticle Precision Plex (PP). Probably worth a try at that price.

Popped a Barska 1.75x4.5 30mm on my new AR cause I had it laying around for a few years, impulse buy. Don't know if it will hold up to long term use, and would be concerned about betting my life on it, but so far it works great. Got it on a quick detach rail and it has held zero after removing and returning. Will see how long it lasts, but expect to upgrade. Interesting dale you have posted so far.

from what little i have been able to garner the pentax scopes were made by burris for a while then were shifted to china.
on the info-net everybody seems to hate barska.

i don't know if their all that bad --i am tempted to buy one of their refurb 1-4x 20mm scopes on amazon for $50, mainly cause it will fit the mount i got and be small enough for the old m-16 slab-side upper to not look weird.

then again i might just buy a 30mm mount and put a optisan mamba on it--LOL--

I know that about Barska, didn't at the time I bought in impulse. Not expecting much... But you never know, even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally...

    http://www.samplelist.com/

SWFA's sample list has a lot of deals --on everything from "junk" scopes to high-high dollar units. and they do have things like leupold vxII for $99-$150 from time to time.

lots of burris and even borderline exotics like the minox ZA5s--

i also like their optisan mamba 1-4x ar-15 scope so far-- it is a very clear scope for $149 with a decent mount-- hell the mount alone is worth $50

    http://swfa.com/Optisan-1-4x24-Mamba...bo-P51887.aspx

LOL i was on SWFAs sample list the other day and they had a generic BSA 3-9x 40mm scope for $0.01!

yea there are lots of scopes out there. some great and some so-so. the irony is sometimes you get a decent one for really cheap --and sometimes you don't--

i recently got a 1-6x 30mm from amazon for $49 shipped-- it ain't as bad as it sounds it is reasonably clear from 1-3x --then it gets fuzzy, then it clears up @ 6x

it can't touch the mamba or the PA though.

    http://www.cameralandny.com/demos-minox.html

camera land often has demos at big bucks off. cameralandny has a lot of exotic scopes german/euro made stuff on their demo lists as well as vortex and leupold and what not.

if it wern't for the e-bomba economy i would probably order a couple of their minox samples -- check their 'deal of the day' board too for additional price cuts--

this 1-6x i got from amazon is having problems--LOL! though it glass ain't so bad.

the machinery inside is CRAP-- the elevation went "kaput" trying to bore sight the scope on the bench. utter FAIL and it hasn't even fired ONE ROUND!--LOL!

AVOID! DANGER , DANGER! WILL ROBINSON!

i have heard good things about the weaver K series the 6x-38 might be the ticket for those of us who wanted a lupupie FX but didn't feel $300+ was such a deal--
