Default Congratulations to North Atlanta's newest HS with the Rifle Range.

The areas most costly school to date to build with the technology departments, INCLUDED a rifle range.

    Thumbs up

High school rifle teams were once relatively common across the country, but have declined in recent decades. They have not disappeared, however. The North Atlanta range is modeled after one at another local high school.

That is great to see.. Young Americans learning proper shooting and weapons safety..
Many years ago in Junior High, we had a .22 target range in the basement of our school in Connecticut.. Nice WWII Vet, teacher at the school, taught us weapons safety and marksmanship..
I went on to score expert in anything the Military put in my hands.. Except that damn M1-Garand. Their tough to shoot with your thumb stuck in the bolt and a D.I.s boot in you ass.. Never touched one since..

We had one at my high school in Asheville, N.C. Used it for .22 rifle training in the Jr. ROTC program. To me it was normal, but good God, people now freak out if they hear about ANY gun within a mile of a school !!!

I had rifle competitions up in Lancaster NY (Outside Buffalo) But then again, in the 80's I used to ride a Public bus into the city to go to the old rail yards and hunt rabbits. Me and my friend would come back with the shotguns and dead rabbits on the bus and the only this we were asked is if we would sell them. Different times.

Yes we all had guns in our truck around hunting time. I was a "cool" thing to wear your back tag in school.
