    Default Got a new VEPR-12!

Well, I couldn't resist it anymore. Ordered one with the folding stock from CF while they had them at $799 and free shipping. Ran about 40 rds thru it yesterday. Runs like a charm. Will shoot anything you put in it. Awesome shotgun!

Only took 3 shots with some slugs to dial in the sights. Not too bad on my old shoulder either. I couldn't have shot that many rounds thru the Mossberg, I would have ended up at the docs office today begging for another cortizone/steroid shot.

Now I need to install this $125 worth of extra parts so I can unlease the folding stock and get some real mags for it. My only gripe about it is the damn sharp edge they left on the end of the charging handle. It's not rounded off like on the ak's. I can fix that easy enough though.

    What no pics? Just kidding

Congrats on the new purchase, if I didn't already have the S-12 I would have gotten one of these.

Ken, Did you order any type of extra mags? Did you get them? I ordered one two for my Folder / AOW project and so far the last two times I ordered magazines / drums last month they are back-ordered. That is one VERY WELL made gun, did you notice the bolt and carrier blows away the Siaga's in quality.
I got the "welded" folding stock. After removing the weld, that thing is an EXPENSIVE stock, the mechanics are far past the drop cam plastic crap out there.

Just dremel or file off the weld and a little cold blue and the folder folds like new. I saw the drums are now being sold. I have Saigas but thinking of the VEPR now. Sounds like they are a grade above the Saigas.

I sold my Saiga 12 about a year ago, and I still have an itch for some sort of replacement. Been looking at the VEPR for the "future". Sounds really nice from everything I've read. Glad you got one Ken. Now you gotta post some gun porn pics!

It didnt even take that, as I said, the mechanical side of the folding hinge is super.
I am also looking into the Saiga mag use in the vepr. Looks to be do-able, I will find out soon.

Pyrotex, no I didn't order any mags yet. I'm thinking about getting some factory 8 rd. mags. They are not cheap though. There's some US made 10 and 12 rd mags out there buy they just look too damn long for me. And yeah, it is a well made firearm for sure. The stock is really well made and locks up tight. It should shoot really nice now. Yesterday I installed a polished Tapco FCG and polished up the bottom of the bolt carrier.

Oh, do any of you know what's up with the 5 rd. mag that comes with it. It holds 5 shells but it would not feed that first round. It gets that first round cockeyed and jammed crossways for some reason. With 4 rds it works fine. I tried 2 3/4 and 3" rds. and it did the same thing. I don't know if that's normal or not.

I'll have to check mine. The first thing I did was make the stock operational as a folder and now the barrel is being cut just forward of the gas block and rethreaded.

    That is sweet Ken!!!

Protex, that's what I did with my S-12. I cut, rethreaded, and permanently installed a muzzle brake to get me back to 18+ inches. Ran great like that. My shoulder didn't like it much, but what the hell. LOL.
