1919 RSP heat treating

I need the info on the heat treating/hardning on the 1919 RSP, i know the last inch has to be done, but i dont know how hard its supposed to be, someone mentioned an even 40 rockwell, but you guys know best:thumbup1: i could be wrong all together, please put me in teh "KNOW"

Last inch = 43-49Rc. The rest of the plate = 23-28Rc.

As mentioned above it is not mandatory. I did not do mine.

From what I was able to gather from info on the M1919 forum is that the last inch was only hardened to keep the slot from wearing from repeated removal of the rear plate. Not for any strength issue related to firing the weapon.
Also very few of them over there are using hardened plates and I haven't read of any issues.
