And yes, they are so simple that with a piece of chain link fence pole & a dremill you could make something that would get you time in prison. Heh...heh
The MKIII parts kits were $10-15 each when they first came in, no one wanted them when MKII kits were still out there for $40-50. Once the MKIIs sold out and climbed to $300+ the MKIIIs started climbing in price. Heck, I remember back in the 80s SGN was advertising MKII kits for $20, $15 if you bought several. I sold all mine off when they hit $100! :crybaby:
Hello tanvil,
That is a MK-III Sten kit. It is missing the barrel jacket (ie front end) with the muzzle bushing that supports the front of the barrel. Otherwise it seems to be there mostly.
Looks like it's on the end of the bbl to me. The rear bbl bushing looks like it is still riveted into the magwell section. In any event the "bushing" is essentially a freeze plug with a hole drilled through the center. The rest comes with the receiver.
I'm pretty sure it's the thing on the barrel. It's a tight fitting bushing with a small amount of the original tube still on it.
I've never shot one, so I'm kinda in the dark about it.
Shooting one is a treat. I'll never forget the shock I had when my buddy pulled one out at the range. He said no worries and showed me the paperwork for it before we commenced shooting up a bunch of 9mm.
Is it on the muzzle end and a second one still in the magwell section for the chamber end? You have all the parts there if that is so, on the MKIII the "bbl shroud" is simply an extra long receiver.
:dunno: It's halfway down I 70 W right about now so I can't look at it. But,
The one on the barrel has what looks to be a front sight post on it, and is somewhat cupped which led me to think it was the front bushing.
There are no grind marks on or around the magwell. If the rear one is a piece that would have to be physically removed by grinding welds, I'd feel pretty safe saying that it's still in there.
If it's a piece that would just fall out, that might change things a bit.
20 years past IMA had MK3 for $75 if you got 6 kits at a time. Other than a removable barrel, rotating mag well and stamped trigger pieces they are all the same.
some day im going to build the two kits I bought a $20 each. I keep hopeing the semi auto stuff will get cheaper an better to make it easier. there on the back back burner.
