I am building my first AK 74. I drilled my receiver using the Ace Arms AK 47 template, which called for a 0.200" hole for the center support rivet.
The center support rivet that I have for the build has a diameter of 0.148".
Oops.
Does anyone know where I can find a center support rivet and bushing that will fit the 0.200" holes that the Ace Arms template called for? I would like to think that they're out there somewhere, if the template called for that diameter.
I can't believe that, that old dimension was still listed. That size goes back to the old days when we were using 3/16 rivets before 4mm became readily available.
The correct rivet size is 4mm (.1575) You will need to step up to a 5mm or 3/16 rivet or mig them up and re-drill
If you want to go with the 3/16 rivet I will send you some. Just PM me your shipping addy. you will need to come up with a sleeve though. We had some success using brake line tubing back in the day. You want something @ 1/4" OD.
1biggun--I'm going with the 3/16 rivets...and will be looking for brake line. My drill press isn't bad, but I wouldn't trust it to go as straight as I would want do drill through a rod.
Got your email. I'll pop a few in the mail tomorrow.
