This outfit has one of those truckload tool sales coming to our town Friday. How would this 20 ton press compare to the type Harbor freight sells? I'm in a VERY rural area & this would save me gas or shipping. Thanks for any opinions, Brad

Looks like it would get the job done. The only thing noteworthy I seen is this one doesn't come with a press plate. If you have something that'll work in its place then I'd say have at it. I've never used Cummins tools, but you should be able to tell the quality when you look at it.

I just bought a Harbor freight 12 ton with plates for 135.00. Nice press for the price
and does the job quite nicely. In my opinion if your going to spend 100.00 for the Cummins why not just get the Harbor freight with the plates.

I own a HF 20 ton press (it came with plates) but the Cummings looks pretty good with the gauge and remote cylinder pump. But again, looks can be decieving. Check it out very close before buying.

Save yourself $100 and just get the 12 ton, that's what most of us use.
It will perform any operation required for AK building.

I own an auto repair shop and we have used the same ATD [China] 12 ton press for the last 10 years. It has done some mighty tough jobs, have not felt the need for anything larger. The only thing that wears out is the bottle jack seals. As far as the plates go, yes, get them included. Finding press tools is a bitch, and they are expensive! Garage sales and auctions have kept me supplied.
