    Default Barrels

How would one go about making their own barrels? I hope I'm putting this in the right place lol. It is not something I would do anytime soon(lack of funds), but it would be for handgonnes. Seems like all those who make them are out of buisness.

unfrotunately I have never seen them carry anything for hangonees or wheelocks.

Do a search under, "Black Powder Barrels". I know theres quite a few barrel makers out there.

As far as making it your self...you would definitely need some heavy duty machines.

Smoothbore? I've seen a British program where they made a handgonne bbl by beating a strip of iron around a round mandrel, forge welding the seam. I'd definitely proof test a homemade one of this type by remote control before I fired the thing normally. Any good blacksmith should be able to replicate the process.

I recently bought some seamless tubing made of 4130 alloy, 5/8ths od, .125 wall thickness, id .330. I think this stuff would make a good barrel. Course it would need to be drilled out to proper id, and then rifled. Anyone with access to a machine shop could make it work, I'm sure.
