First couple builds I did were AR's, but just thought they were crappy rifles. Then I went to M1's and M1A's, now AK's and 1911's.

I've only done 1 each and decided good old Mausers and Springfields are more my style. I do really well with those and I just think there's much more of a reward in doing up something like that.

Plus I just like those easy to obtain sub MOA groups using those platforms. I'm more about accuracy than just putting rounds down range. I like all guns,,,DUH,,, but I just like building a classic style hunting or target rifles better I guess even though I own probably about an even number of military guns as sporting guns. So don't cha worry there mister, I still have days when plenty of lead fly's downrange.

Not a bad problem to have I guess,,having the best of both worlds, Ya,, whats not to love about that may I ask ?

The easiest rifles for me to shoot are M1 Garands and M1A's. They just seem to fit me well and always shoot best with front post and rear aperture sights.

I bought my first AK right after the old gun ban sunset. Liked it enough to start building, I bought enough kits to keep one building going on the side but that got expensive for just a hobby. So I started assembling ARs, that was like the old erector sets I had back when I was a child. It got boring just as fast.
I did a few other builds like 1919A4, RPD, MG42, but that again priced itself out of my reach.
Then I discovered AR 80% builds, this was more like a real build than an assembly & more like building AKs. I own a large amount of both AK & ARs but you just can't beat the simplicity of the AK. The AR need to be exact while the AK can be just smacked together & it will run like a champ.
I think my heart & bank account will always be with the AK even if I stray a little now & then. LOL
