Well, I *did* say "cut it off to clear the mag latch" and "ugly"...

I don't think there's any simple way to fit the Bren mag to the SMLE either. Either the mag has to be chopped or trigger guard mods are needed.

The Charlton and Reider semiauto Enfield conversions used unmodified Bren mags, as far as I know... but practically all of the rest of the rifles were hand-built, which sort of blew away the "cheap, simple conversion from existing bolt-action rifle" concept... I've seen pictures of the Reider with either the stock mag or the Bren mag.

Dutigaf since they are both rimmed and approx. the same length, I would see where 54r in 303 bren mag would work fine,
so the 54r 's bunch up in the bren mag past 15 to 18 rounds interesting. didn't the Chinese make a 54r mg for there zb copies and jap captures

oh come to think of it Jap 7.7 mg mags hold semi and rimmed ammo same length and if rimmed as 303 almost the same all around I recently saw a article on gunlabs site where they are producing or have the molds to make Jap 7.7 semi rimmed mags
so if a 303 mag with take 54r and 7.7 semi rimmed jap & 303 are all about the same then it would depend on the mag width and length

wonder if the 303 vickers/berthier mags will fit the PSL, mines in storage up north, I am fly up on Thursday I will send it down next week when I return to see if the mag body fits worry about the front and rear lugs later
    Sprat,

it was kinda strange when i had it running using 54R's & other people couldnt even get them in the mag... thats when we realized it was all about the OAL & that different country's had a different spec...

could be the chinese were loading their 54R at the more set back distance & thats why it ran in their magazine, because im pretty sure their magwell dimensions are exactly the same as Euro & south american mags.

if any one has a chinese mag, would love to get some dims off of it. :-)

Here is a PSL mag side by side with a VEPR mag in x54. I think it would take more than a little shimming to make a VEPR mag work... it's too long to fit in a PSL well.

^^^^hee hee... ive already done this & got a video of it working.

yes you have to make a space eater for the sides & a little front end work to make the nose of it lock in your PSL... but it does work and the center feed part of it is great.

they had these in a high cap for cheap, is why i went with it.. but now they never come in stock anymore. :-(

The ten round VEPR mags are a PITA to load, and the twenty rounders are a total bitch. Sure wish they made a LuLa loader for them.

not that hard to run the cartridges in a die and press the projectiles a bit deeper, they will function fine especially if its a tad

yeah they are a bit tough to load... easy to unload real quick though. LMAO

so since the vepr mag is polymer I assume the cheaper is glued or heated glue to the sides with a bit of hand filing on the front, till it fits

    YES.

i did it with epoxy on the first 2...

then just for arguing i did a JBweld build up and ground that back down to size to get it to fit. this was not as cosmetically pretty.. but im guessing it will hold up just fine. guy who bought it hasnt complained. LMAO
