He swears all he did was shoot it. I have it here at my house and I did see that the rear of the buffer looks a bit rough. Like maybe it's over gassed and the bcg is slamming back too hard. It's a theory. I have replaced the buffer with a heavier one, new buffer spring, and rigged up an adjustable gas block. I'll make it shoot softer to eliminate that possibility. Also, he broke a polymer 80 that was on it before the ati. Swears he never dropped it.

The rear pin? Makes sense, take down and pivot pin.
You're in the right direction dew. Ever see him slap it closed or play GI Joe with it?
    Dookie happens ya know.
Buffer, tube length and stock all come into play.
Saw early CAR tubes that weren't one piece come apart.
    Nasty.

    oops... my fault DEW..

i didnt mean "drop" as in on the ground.. that should never hurt one of these hybrids.. they pass EVERY military test that aluminum does & have a higher strength rating in 3 of the tests.

the regular ATI's & unreinforced polys were experiencing failures from BOLT DROPPAGE. people yanking & letting the bolt get a full slam on an empty chamber.

now to me? that is still not acceptable to have a problem from...

the seller claimed that when there is a hammer/magazine/rounds & all in the way it slows/lightens the travel speed & impact to the barrel trunny.. eliminating the front pin or ears breaking off/out.

the REAR breaking is usually a recoil or alignment issue.

ive always praised these hybrid lowers as better than the poly's & super tough... never busted 1 of these even with 50bmg sniper uppers........ but now with more of these failures starting to show up?

maybe it was a matter of AGE/heat/cold/repetition/cycle life as a combination on them instead of just "we shot them a bunch" when they first came out?

i dunno... but i do keep some extra alum lowers & poly lowers just incase one ever goes to pot.

then again the easiest way to avoid any of this? get rid of all the AR's & just have AK's!! :-)

I remembered something. ATI says the Omni hybrid lowers have SN in 3 places, 2 are under the poly on the metal. Makes it harder to obliterate the SN. They can be seen with x-ray. That's why they can't stamp one with my old SN.
