The 20 rounders handel better an work well.
I remeamber when AK Builder had them for $7 LOL I bought a bunch.
As far as I know the Hungarian,s were the only ones to use a 20 round mag.

Yep, the Hun steel 20-rounders are becoming rarer each day. I remember when vendors couldn't give them away and now people look high and low for them. People also looking for steel AK-74 mags without much success and even then those prices are soaring (even Tantal mags). Then the Bakelite mags are crazy high priced. Personally I find the cheepo $5 smooth sided Tapco mags work just as good and hold up quite well. But there are collectors for original "artifacts" from the Soviet era and they are becoming more rare with an occasional "discovery" in the old Combloc that results in a short term flood of items.

Not trying to jack the thread but what's the deal with chinese mags? Theres a large buying/selling/trading group on facebook for AK parts and the prices people ask for chinese mags are steep IMO.

Are they really that good? I have some polish, some romanian, a bunch of tapcos but my go to are my yugos as they appear near indestructible to me.

And the ONLY reason is,,there not eligible for import,,not for many years. Wasn't that a clinton era thing?

I've had some in the past and IMO,,there no better ,,no worse than and other half decent AK. To me the only "collector value" to them is due to that fact you can't get them. In my minds eye,, that don't necessarily make them collectible, there just not imported now,,so what??. It don't make one more valuable to me.

There nothing special really and only a step or two above a WASR as far as I'm concerned. There a lower end, minimally mid range AK that goes bang,,and that's about it,,,,,,,, But don't they all ,,,,all the way from WASR's to arsenal's???

I remember these in a three mag count pouches included for $24.00/ea. These have an oil bottle and tool kit holder slots with leather straps.

This was a little over 5 years ago.

If you're interested, Classic Firearms is selling very reasonably-priced 19-round AK mags:

AK-47 20 Round Steel Magazine, Brand New, Made in South Korea

I've got 5 and my biggest (and only) complaint so far is that they market it as a 20-rounder, but that 20th round won't fit. They work well in my IO-made AK, which has a very snug magazine well that the TAPCO mags would stick in. Plus, it's nice to not monopod any more when firing (I also use 20-rounders with my ARs).
