    Stickerman;
With an offer like that I'll hold off. Let me know how things are going and I'll come down and maybe do more than one. Like I said before, I'll pitch in something for use of "shop time"! I'm moving so slowly on putting one together because I'm teaching Undergrad Statistics this semester.

Not a problem. Just send me an e-mail in a week or two when you think you could head over. Maybe when Midway has some headspace gauges in stock you can grab some. I was going to have a friend go by and get a set a few weeks ago, but I didn't have time to get it taken care of.

    Stickerman,

Good luck with your move! I just got through with one myself and I'm glad its over with. It definitely put a stand still to my building. I am just now getting spun back up!

We're on the last two days of moving!!!!!! I will have my milling machine taken over tomorrow. Then I have to run some 220v wiring and I should have everything ready to be back to working on jigs on Monday.

Now I remember why I said I never wanted to move again after the last time.

Global has started a pre-order list on the underfolding receivers. If you have a FFL on file with them, you can get on it. I was told there was a 2-3 week wait when I got on over a week ago. Global will not pre-charge your card the way Joeken does. The Global receiver is the shitnz too, if you can deal with narrowing the trunions. I've built a couple already and it isn't that hard.

As far a Joeken, I have experienced long delays and precharging of my CC . So far, they do come through eventually though. If you stress about waiting and worry about it, avoid them. They will do it to you and complaining doesn't seem to do anything but raise the complainer's blood pressure. I still buy from them if they have something at a unmatched price, but I fully expect the runaround for a while. That's been the Joeken game, don't play if it bothers you.

Well I ordered two underfolder kits, two receivers, and a complete underfolder build.

All of the above are the PLO russian variety.
When my two kits arrived they both had cut rear trunnions.
I called and talked to Joe and was pretty pissed since I had asked about the trunnions beforehand.
He said the salesman had misunderstood me and that they were out of kits with undamaged rear trunnions, period.
He offered to swap out some bad furniture in exchange for the trouble.
OK, so I'll get it welded and machined back up, I figured.
Then, on further inspection I found one of the kits was a bad bore rifle.
Rusted and pitted in the barrel at the muzzle end.
This time I sent an angry email accusing them of stalling on my kits while they picked out the good ones for the builds.
    I got no reply.
Sent a PM to AKMike via gunsnet and he passed the matter on to Andrew, who called me the next business day with an apology.
He offered a "select" kit as a replacement and even offered to ship it without billing my card or waiting on the returned kit.
He was off work today so I don't know if it's been shipped, but my returned kit is on its way.
That's where things stand at the moment.
AKMike has been pretty cool trying to get things ironed out.
As far as the receivers go - they vaguely mentioned an engraving service when I first ordered my stuff (matching serial numbers, USSR stamp).
Now that they are suposedly setting up their engraving machine, I told them to go ahead and take their time to get the receivers correct.
The new batch of receivers supposedly have the rail step-down issue fixed.
And I sent two emails to them trying to convince them to offer the Cryillic selector markings as an option, which would be good for business.
On the cut trunnions issue, I was told that in order to fix it, they only had mismatched trunnions there ie; chinese, and they didn't want to piss me off further by sending me a bogus trunnion.
My position is - I would rather have a real Soviet AKM kit with a repairable rear trunnion than no kit at all, so I'm bending over at the moment and paying for something that was not as advertised.
The trunnion repairs will be a simple matter of welding a 1/8" plate along the demill cuts, reshaping it, then milling the thickness back down to where it should be. At least the receiver holes will line up, since the front two trunnion holes can be drilled from the receiver.
    Now for the good :
The one kit I do have, in spite of a "force matched bolt and carrier" and cut rear trunnion, appears to be BRAND NEW !
There is no sign of wear on the parkerizing or any parts, and the wood looks new, oily as hell, but new. In fact, If I could get another kit exactly like that one I would even pay their new higher price.

The jury's not in as far as whether I'm getting screwed or not. When I get all of my stuff finally I will know. It seems that many of the problems there are from a lack of manpower, competence, or both, and not necessarily dishonesty. Of course I may be back here to eat these words in a couple of weeks or months. Some people waited a lot longer than me for kits, and one guy I know of got his this week with no damage and excellent trunnions, so I don't know whether hes lying to me (Joe) about the intact trunnion kits being unavailable. (The other guy was way ahead of me in line for a kit.)

At the beginning of all of this I was very clear to them that my card was NOT to be billed till things were ready to ship, and they have complied.
If I do get lied to (again?) I will go WAY out of my way to file complaints with the Arizona State AG office, the City of Winslow Chamber of Commerce, The BBB, and Visa, not to mention taking out an ad in the Winslow paper relating my experience. But for the time being I'm giving Joe the benefit of the doubt, and I'll even thank him if or when it looks like I got a fair deal.

Well I think that tells me about all I need to know. Ive been wanting a russian kit so bad its killing me but have been holding off to see if joeken would ever get it together. After waiting for my rivet kit and video for two months and about 28 bucks in long distance calls to Andrew at joeken I finally got my rivet kit and video in. That was a waste of money LOL. Its bad when they have to tell the customer to call tomorow and remind them to ship your item.LOL. I got that every day for about two weeks and when it was all said and done they didnt even have the rivet kits in stock. With the price of the russian kits gone up now that tells me that they are starting to run low on stock and all thats left are bottom of the barrel kits. I think Ill just pass on the russian for now. Maybe another company will get some in. Oh and I dont recomend the rivet kit. The tips of the tools are not the right shape. They make your rivets look like the shape of tuxedo cuff links. I boxed up the kit and didnt even use it. I made myself a set of rivet tools that put joekens to shame.
