The wood will swell from the wetting, but will return to near-original dimensions when thoroughly dry. It will also sand better once dried out.

Ok, so I let the wood dry. I sanded it and applied the first coat of Minwax "Natural" stain. Well, let's just say that it's not gonna be blond. It gave it a slightly dark hue. It looks nice, but it's not blond. I'll post pics of it tonight.

Here are the pics of my Bulgy AK 74 wood furniture stained "Natural", instead of blond. I actually like how it turned out, but will have to make another attempt at bleaching and refinishing for a blond look in the future.

    p.s.

The wood had a bit of a greenish tint to it after I bleeched it, so it was nice to cover that up. I also applied some Spar Urethane for a protective finish, and will follow the first coat up with another two later.

Those Bulgy stock sets seem to be from three different types of wood, I think it's impossible to get them matching naturally. You've got them lookin good though.

Thanks! I like the way they turned out. I'll post pics of the final product after I mount the furniture on my SAR 3.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but I like it too.

Ok, so here's the final product. Now I really know why SJ said to allow the proper time for the wood to dry. I had the toughest time trying to insert the stock and HG's. I saw that even after a week of drying, they were swollen and would not fit. It's pretty humid down here in the South and even with the AC on, it looks like the humidity took its toll. But hey, that's nothing a little sanding and a rubber mallet couldn't fix. I really like the way they turned out.
