I'm new to this AR fad & I see MOE this & MOE that.

Magpul original equipment. Good stuff. Got one of the stocks. And moe money too. I like it. Comfortable stock.hth.
GOOD STUFF CHEAP!
Are they new? Don't remember them back in 2006 when I bought some AK kits.
I bought four of there window 30rd magazines for my new AR15 toys.
I like a lot of their stuff. Keep an eye out for sales and closeouts at PSA. I bought a forest green fixed carbine stock for 28 bucks. Cool thing is the lighter colors will readily accept Rit dye. I dyed mine black no problem. So I pick up the closeouts that are lighter colors that no one wants. EDIT: Just visited PSA and the closeout stuff is all gone for now.
Thanks guy's! I don't know what has come over me what with getting into AR's . I swore I never would!
Next thing you know I'll be buying some of those gloves with NO fingers!!:wow::help2::dunno::rofl::drown::nanabang ::nanabang:
28 bucks was deal. And thank you for the Rit dye tip. Last one I got might have been grey something. I'll verify when we escape the doctor merry go round and the yuppies.:)
it also means FOOD!
lunch at Moe's! yum yum... lol
Don't forget about this MOE!!
:slap:Yep! I was gonna go there but restraining my sense of humor for bit;) it won't last. Braddock will find out about the tube diameters also if he hasn't already for the magpul stocks.
And Larry and Curly last seen on the redheads thread.:)
Railbuggy if i'm not mistaken the business was founded by vet wanting better kit for the troops. And did. USMC vet. Began the business 1999.
Right stalker. I had to look it up after I thought about it. My tour ended March 3rd 1978.
Rails my bud don't tell me i'm right! I'll start thinking i'm an RKI or something.Y'all know my sense of humor is breaking out already?:) I ain't wrong I'm just different.
This is the MOE SL I just put on mine about a week back.
I'd talked about it on another tread, so if you've heard/read it, bear with me. There's lots of things I like about it so far from my limited usage, a good walk through the woods with it will bring out any shortcomings though, that's next. There allot nicer than the standard clunky M4 forearms IMHO though, much nicer looking and feeling too.
Overall I like it allot, it's way more comfortable for me being about 1 1/2" longer and covering the gas block. That I've always had issues with, carbine length guns with gas blocks. I have fairly long arms and with that type gun, VZ58,AK's AR's ect, I always seem to creep up on the gas blocks and end up burning my fingers! With this forearm being longer and covering the gas block it seems to have eliminated that issue and added the extra length so it fits me better besides. It pretty much makes a carbine length gun feel more like a mid length gun to me! I like that. I also like the way it flares over and under the Delta ring, that protects your hand some if you use your mag well as a holding point like some folks I know do. I also like the bit of a flare at the front of it, it makes a very good reference point to hold so you hold it exactly the same each time.
It fits like a glove as you can see and is nice and thin width wise. It will take a bit of finagling to get the "ears" on one part tucked in where they need to be, but not to hard really ,it just takes 47 fingers and a little patience to do it,,,,, hint,,,a spare hand with the delta ring tool would certainly make it much easier !! I didn't so it took 4-5 minutes to install and pinched my fingy!!!YOUCH!
Another thing that impressed me was that it didn't have any sharp edges at the ends of the panels, no casting sprue's or anything else funky like that, it's defiantly nice quality. The heat shield is nice also and seems to work quite well, I put about 100 rounds through it within about 15 minutes and it cooled off nicely and never felt hot.
I did find one thing that I think could use improvement though, the grip. To me it seems to be a bit slick and not quite enough texture to it, for bare handed use, I noticed that right off. Not horrible now mind you, but it could be just a bit better IMO. I normally shoot rifles with the rubber palmed/finger light weight knit gloves anyways so for me it's really no big deal, but something to mention anyways. Oh Ya,,BTW, it IS set up for the "M-Lock" attachments if your into all that rail thingy stuff.
So there ya have it in a nutshell ! I like mine so far!!
BTW, if short forearms aren't an issue for you, the Magpul site has the 1st Gen slightly shorter ones on clearance right now for 17 bucks and change if your looking, there's some AK & shotgun ones on clearance too @ about 1/2 the normal price,,just a heads up.
I checked this one I have. It's the grey one I thought. Rock solid collapsible stock. Padded buttplate. Stuck a lonestar ordnance pistol grip from the parts box on it. Feels good. Minute of tree for sure.:thumbup1::thumbup1: Annd.. Of course I gotta come back to add sumn else, That grey stock on a black gun is kinda like a camo thing.:)
ok back on the real MOE topic:
im not into tacticool on anything.... BUT MagPUl stuff has been really awesome.. from their mags to their stocks.. never had a bad product.
but currently im doing their stuff on AK's. (we already have a thread here with it posted)
On that I believe we all agree. Practical just works. Military buys it. Ground pounders like it.
I was trained with the M16A1 back in 74 but I was issued the M14 on SeaDuty and at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station. Never really had anything good to say about the poodle shooters. Sold most of my guns when the wife keep getting pregnant back in the 90s. I started buying more guns in 2004 after a neighbor broke in my house and threatened me if I pressed charges. My rifles at home now are a Ruger77 in 30/06, FAL L1A1 in 7.62x51, SKS and a few AKMs. Mom gifted my two brothers and me 14k each last december and I promply paid off the 11k owed on my car loan. While checking out SLICKGUN one day I saw a AR15 carbine made by a company called ANDERSON ARMS that is near our Greater Cincinnati Airport in Hebron,Ky. After checking out the Anderson Arms website I called a local distributor on there list wanting to buy a AR15 kit. He said he would sell me a brand new Anderson for $499. Turned out he assembled it himself, but I bought it anyway. Next I bought a SPIKES stripped lower and a LPK by DPMS and a ATI pistol buffer tube assembly. I ordered the top end from PSA and it is a 11.5" 5.56 pistol upper flat top with the A2 front sight. After reading a little about these poodle shooters, I now want to assemble a varmint rifle with a somewhere between 18-24 inch barrel.
PS: I have read that Anderson is not high quality but was told a AR is a AR is a AR.
The receiver? Out side of those half assed oly cast ones they knowingly dumped on the market in the 90's they is what they is. Only two or three foundries produce lowers that are final finished by the companies that mark them as theirs. Unless something has changed. Billet cut I really don't don't know about. That cheap ass oly out of spec lower that cost me a bunch of hours to make work? Ten pound sledgehammer took care of that. IMHO. Never seen stalky say dat. Anderson should be good. The extras is where it's at. Me and Oly? Don't get along. Of course your mileage and views may vary.:thumbup1::slap:
twa2471-I'm waiting for my money to drop. We have a chain of gun stores called TRIGGERS in northern Ky and southeast Ind. They carry Magpul and other custom AR parts for the builder.
If you want to sell AR stuff its got to have cool alphabet name.
Government talk. My uspmo gets my upper from an USMC vet selling thru tca via ups or priority mail. Sometimes I gotta wonder. Used to call a company and work it out. Then the brown truck (Ups) would show up.
It's alphabet soup to me now. I agree with Biggun.
twa that is a super nice rig yah put together their brother.. :rockin:
I see your scope is sitting low on the AR. Not sure if it is just me but I had to put risers on the scopes for my ARs. Mounted one low like you have on yours and I almost had to go to a plastic surgeon with the straight lines of the AR to see down the dang scope.
Would bet lower is better but I like I say I almost had to lay sideways to see down the dang scope.
Both my new ARs are flat tops. I need to order a carry handle so that I can mount glass if I need to. Lost my right eye at work in 95 to a acid burn. With extra high scope mounts I can shoot right handed using my left eye.
Rails have you considered a cant mount? Cantilever 45% cant mount? Left eye dominate right hand shooters do that.
Personally? Not my game. The "operators" started using them in CQC. Optics on top. Lean the weapon on the shoulder which ever way you need when it gets up close and personal. Too me? Close range stuff. I understand the concept. If'n you are left eye dominant and shoot right hand? Ehh. Worth a shot (pun intended). Y'all know me. The old Daisy air rifle marketed as quick skill. If you got that close? I'm thinking rails might check em out.
4th, I'm not sure just why that cheap ass Tasco is able to be mounted as low as it is and not be out of line with my eye,, I have no clue ,,it just works?? You notice both my others in another post had higher mounted scopes didn't you? Well, those were more the more expensive scopes,,must be that's why,,,,:lol: I guess the makers figured I hadn't spent quite enough on there products yet so they designed them so you'd need something else to mount there scope properly!!:grumble: It's a conspiracy I tell ya !!!:geezer:
Put a cheap ass old 49 buck scope on and it's fine, put a Frigging 500 buck scope one on ,,and Hell no it won't work ..you got to buy this, that, or the other riser thingy, just to make them work right it seems? :dunno::redchug::redchug:WTF????
Actually by all rights, this one could actually use a set of low cantilever mounts to allow it to go forward just about another inch so it works perfect, but with a jacket on it falls just about right. I still have to shift my cheek back just a titch, but not to bad. I've got a set here, but have just been up to other stuff so I haven't changed them out quite yet. Or maybe I've just been lazy?? :dunno: It could go either way?
I do shoot with both eyes open though, even with scopes if there set up right for me, it's better for hunting that way, and that's what I am, a hunter. You get a much better field of vision than shooting with only one open and it's much more accurate for moving shots that way. Plus you can still keep an eye on your target better between shots that way. And I very very rarely miss a moving target, so must be I was taught right?
BTW guys, the cantilever mounts aren't the 45 degree thingys there just a mount that leans forward further instead of being straight up and down, the 45 degree ones are called "offset" mounts.
twa Tasco was a company I think? out of Miami somewhere.?? Oh my God are they good low priced quality scopes that people overlooked. I have one on my .22 equal to my high priced scopes.
I think?? Bushnell or someone bought them out, not sure?
But a great scope for a decent price in my .02..
Hell Ya ,,I think I've had as many of those old Tasco 3X9 as anything , and there better than half the 300 buck scopes out there, especially if there the older Japanese made ones, they were 39-49 bucks and clear as a bell and never seemed to break,,Awesome scopes IMHO!!! Don't care what anyone says about all there fancy over priced shit,,,,those old Jap made Tascos rocked. The straight 4x's Bushnells & Tasco's were awesome too,,wish they still made them, I've got a few of those on my guns still too.:thumbup1: Love um,,,,,
A quick edit,,,Just happened to notice the scope on this one is a Bushnell, not a Tasco,,Duh,,,,
So many toys and so many different accessories,,I just can't keep track!! Gezzzz!
Bought a 3 power colt marked fix sight back when. Remember them? The original version bolt on an A1 upper was subcontracted to Tasco who had them made in Japan. As much as I hate to admit it at the price point and what its being used for the Chinese are catching up. Still a hit or miss sometimes tho.

Well hell twa, you're right!:thumbup1: I was thinking canting the weapon! This old dog is still learning. The new guys use the word different.
I'll tell ya Mike ,, there's so much new shit out there I just can't even keep track anymore for Christ's Sake!!!
Stuff stuff stuff, all the time new gun stuff!
Kinda like back in the day when I used to tend bar,,," A new crop of 21 year old's every year",,:thumbup1:
Kinda like with guns, there's Always something new new different!
I must admit I like them gal parts better than gun parts, but now, I just can't handle them or there drama anymore !:lol::lol:
One good thing. At least a gun won't shoot it's mouth off ,,,till ya pull the trigger ! A gal,,,well a gentle breeze can set them critters off,,especially if there a,,
SOUTHERN RED HEAD!!!
"Ask Mikey, he'll tell ya" !!!:lol:
 Les? Thought were talking moment of entry stuff!:dunno::geezer: you got me laughing bud! Stop that!;)
I have an older 4X fixed scope sitting around I think may placed on a 22 Stevens I have in a corner. Actually the Rossi combo with 22lr and 20 gauge barrels. Those little suckers can shoot! Just read an article about drilling drilling holes in the stock for extra rounds. I'm thinking it has a hollow plastic stock.
Hey Bro,,that's my job,,giving folks shit and,,
I had one of the Savages way back, 22 Mag over either 16 or 20,,don't recall? The 22 part would drive tacks and I shot many Squirrels, Coons and Rabbits with it in my days.
That was my "growing up gun" right after BB guns ,12 years old I think I was when Grand Pa got it for me?
Back on the subject, magpul works. Check the stock diameter to choose and every time you get one a sticky decal thing is in the package. My rifle case is full. Now I just take the extra ones and stick them on the gas pump or the i beam support there. That and the guns save lives ones.
