Has anone successfuly modified a standard 40 round (AK-47) mag to fit and operate in an AK-74??? Seems like you should be able to weld up the upper part to the dimesionons of an AK-74 mag, then mill down the external dimensions to fit.

Hrm... seems to me the curvature of the mag wouldn't make for 100% reliable feeding. I'm sure it would work after those tweaks, however. Interesting idea... going for a metal '74 mag?

Think ya might wanna wait for the AWB sunset, sounds like manufacture of a new hi-capacity mag with the intermingling of calibers/mags. Then again, I'm no expert. I do believe Romania did produce some 40 round (not 45) steel RPK74 mags, heard of 'em, never seen one.
