away, standing start. From 6 ft, he's upon you in .50 second, can you HIT a man in the chest or head, as he dives at you, THAT fast? :) 10ft, he takes one step as he gets his head and torso down, and then leaves his feet in the dive. So you have almost no time to fire at him in the standard, upright torso position that so many "think" is how things "go down". He can easily throw his crowbar, screwdriver, channel lock pliers, flashlight at your head as he does this, from 15 ft away, too. Can you avoid the thrown object, step to one side, and still hit the MOVING 10" circle of his chest, in the 1.5 seconds it will take him to be upon you, from 5 yds away? If your gun is still in a concealed belt rig, best figure on using kicks to keep him "at bay, until you can get your gun out and "on" him, at typical sub 10 ft confrontation ranges.

I guess anything is possable , but in my life I have not ever seen something like this happen without any warning. Usualy when the chanel locks start to fly a bunch of crap has allready happened. I agree not allways but a huge majority of the time their is plenty of advance warning that something is up, and time to be prepaired. rite.
with that being said I would have to agree that the members on THIS sight are here to enjoy the hoby of AK's. lets face it an AK is not the best weapon to hide in your pants. it would make it kind of hard to walk.
Maby some advise or suggestions along with the trouble issue might go over better, but honsetly as mentioned we are not gang bangers, or survivialist. At this point in my life I do not think I will ever be in that kind of situation, I am old enough to not go to those kind of places and do not associate with that kind of people. the odds of it happening randomly are so small.. I dont know ......

HAY CHEPUS I need a selfactivating perp protecter !!!! do you know ware I can find one for under $50!! that would go great with the death ray I just bought at wallmart.

Rifles are for war, or dead serious foraging. An AK is pretty far down the list of desirable rifles for either of those jobs, too. What is at least 10x as likely as needing any rifle or shotgun is needing a pistol. You most likely wont get to a longarm in time. I've pointed my pistol at men 4 times in my life, and it would have been good to have on several other occasions, too. Many,MANY guys 'think" that they are "ready", "fast enough", etc, and it just aint so. You can ignore my posts, ya know. I have no problems ignoring the "plinker" posts by guys who "think" it's so important that a rifle be able to fire when it's full of sand. It aint really so of an AK, ya know and I can prove it.

I must be dooing something wrong I have never had to point my pistol at anyone ever. I have avoided situations in the past a few times. I also seem to recal in basic hand gun training something like "never draw your gun unless you are about to use it" . I seem to rember a quote from the trainer something like. " If anyone sees the end of your barrel it should be the last thing they see" . he was pretty clear that flashing a gun around in not a good idea.
I am shure I am just a fool, but if I have had to draw my weapon four times, then I would have to take a long close look at my life, clearly I would have been with the wrong people , wrong places , wrong something. it would be a very clear indication to myself that it was time to make some serious life changes. getting faster with my gun would not be the answer. figuring out what I was dooing to get myself into situations ware I needed to draw my weapon would be number one on my list. after figuring out what it was that was getting me into thies situations , I would hope, I would stop it!! whatever it was!!

hay I sound like DR. Phill

I am not shure what is worse , if you drew your weapon four times without fireing it. or fireing at four people.. PLEASE do not tell us eitere way.. PLEASE

I know it sounds like I am preaching at you , but my goodness, when you post things like that someone is going to answer. it is not my intent to just dump on you and please do not take it that way. but again MY GOODNESS. 99.99 percent of people never have to draw a weapon. and when most people hear things like that they assume one of two things are involved. rite. no I do not want details. SKS said it without any words at all.

again I am NOT slamming you here .. but my goodness put the gun away, decide ware you would not be safe and do not go their. decide the people you would not be safe with and stay away from them. if you do thies two simpal things you should never need to pull your gun on anyone again. RITE? I think that is the way most of us live allready.
as for what you are dooing now "how's that working for you"
ok Dr. Phill out.

If you feel the ak is such an inferior weapon, why in the world do you wish to grace this board, which is mostly ak oriented, with your ever knowing expert advice and brilliant deductions on firearms that you feel are useless. I know of a couple other boards that you would fit right in at or did they too become annoyed at your retheric and send you to us? ak'sr4me

unsure why he posted this here but during training i was told and have seen a man move that far that fast . As far as pointing a gun at four men in your lifetime i just hope your an LEO of some type and it was on the job. When they discussed this during training it was in the context of never get so close to a perp just because you have him covered .

?hotbarrel? is right, Training teaches you how not to use your weapon as much as it trains you on how to use it. This guy better be a LEO or he?s living life in the wrong way. I live in Illinois and will push for concealed carry till I die. But even if we are ever lucky enough to have Mayor Daley kick the bucket and get CCW passed, I?ll most likely never carry a gun! Despite what you see on TV and hear on the radio, reports over the last eight years or so have shone violent crime is going down. We all should know there are places you just don?t go or don?t go alone, and your best defense is not to get yourself into the position of ever needing a gun in the first place. Home defense is different, I think it?s my duty to defend my home and I don?t care if I live next door to a police station, I will still have a weapon to defend my home. The average citizen having to pull a weapon four times just means he?s looking for trouble and will most likely find it one time too many and thus make the nightly news. That makes the responsible gun owner look bad. This man may just be trying to help, and it?s appreciated, but this may not be the right place to dispense his knowledge. I hope he stays and just lightens up some on the ?Kill or get killed? bit. I?m not a person you?d want to cross with and believe in defending myself, but I?m here because I love guns and enjoy the company of others of the same mind. I?ve got enough crap in my life and I come here to have a good time away from the crap.

His first post has some merit, I have seen this scenario played out in mock runs at my uncle's place and he is pretty much dead on time wise. As far as the rest of what he has to say in the thread...momma always said if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything...*silence* Man if you want to be a good community member we welcome you with open arms, alas if you are here to troll...your stay will be short.

I just read a bunch of his previous posts. Just about all negative about someone or something.

Other than trolling, I can not imagine why he is here.

TROLL ALERT.

Who thinks this shit up??? I had visions of some perverted muff diver until I read it... dive on me indeed. Hrmpf!

All I have to say to this is my sig line from another forum:

A handgun is what you use to fight your way back to the rifle that you never should have left behind in the first place.
An AK counts as a rifle.

If I ever had to draw a gun, I would be ready to fire, but if the pos I drew on turned into a whimpering wuss and begged me to not shoot, and stopped their naughty actions, I would not have any reason to shoot.

What I try to do, is to be aware of where I am, and try to avoid trouble. So far it seems to be working. One other thing I do, and this is very important, is I never, ever, put sand in my rifle. ;) Even if it's an AK.
