Finished another build today. Started life as an innocent AMD 65 kit, accidently fell into some evil transformation machine ............. and ended up like this.

Did you have to replace your gas tube to get the wood cover on their? I have been wondering how reliable are the screw builds anyway? do you find yourself tightening the screws alot?

I made the rail and then milled the rear sight block out, then tig welded the rail on.

The gas tube is a shortened bulgy 74 tube. I shortened it and expanded the front to fit the gas block.

I haven't fired it yet so I don't know how reliable the screw builds are but I don't see these coming loose with red loc tite. Maybe breaking but not coming loose.

I will get to fire it next weekend after the paint cures and I actually get some time off work. :ak47:

The wood isn't what will finally go on it but I am refinishing the laminated stuff that will end up on it.

Yeah if you have problems with loose screws and red loctite you did something wrong

That looks like a Krinkov combo front sight/gas block... you can tell by the swell on the right side. That's where the muzzle brake retainer pin is relocated, to allow room for the gas port.

Sorry guys I couldn't reply sooner. I was away on vacation. Back now. :bawling:

The gas block is from kvar but not the krink one. It is the other one they list. AK104 maybe? I am not sure what it is for really.
It is silver soldered on along with the pin holding it in.

I made the fake can myself. Lots of fun having access to a mill and lathe.

how do those iron sights feel with all that increased radius?
i'm thinking of getting one of those cover mods, but haven't heard about them.
