My buddy sent me this pic, he just got over to Afghanistan a month or two ago. Thought they looked pretty good, worth sharing. Polish AKs with EOtechs....

Man, would love to get some better shots of those. Looks pretty good with an EOtech. How are those dust covers hinged?? Doesn't look like a standard "krink" style hinged cover, but there is obvipously a hinge pin visible between the barrel pin and the rear sight.
very cool picture how uncommon are polish krinks here in the states anyway? oh and 2ndamendican, next time you talk to ztek ask him if he remembers seeing krinks in poland and how the hing is, he's a polish ak nut as you probably know haha
I'm pretty sure that they are hinged at the front and screw into the rear trunnion. Like the beryl rails you can get here...

The ones in the foreground look to have a rail stuck on the rear sight base.

me a polish ak nut?
what gives you that idea:brows:
honestly ive never seen a krink in poland
the first time i saw one of there beryls was in the sandbox
and from what i remember the rail is kinda pinced on the rear sight block to hinge it
im still debating on what i want to do with my polish mix of parts and my yugo ft end
Look at the pic closely, the three at the far end with EOtechs are beryl mounts, you can see the standard rear sight.

Now look at the first rifle that you see the rail and the one just past it with the EOtech, those are the same style but not a byrel, look at the rail there's a little flip up rear sight at the back of it.
Kind of looks like the rail is made as part of what we know as the rear sight base.
Looks to be a mix of wz.96 Mini Beryls and the standard rifle variant, too long to be the carbines. The mini beryls have a rail built into the rear fsb and there is flip up iron sights on rear portion. You can see the two little dots and the grove between them. The hinged can be attached to the Mini Beryls also. It looks like they have changed/simplified the rear sight/rail over time. Thanks for posting the picture you almost never find an angle like that. Here are some more pictures.

Great Picts.

Are those friendly use AKs or captured AKs.

The polish still use AKs, and they're fighting there on our side. I think they still use DShKs too...

Thank you.
Thanks for the links and info MrTank
Talked to my buddy again, he said those belonged to Polish Military fellows that were bringing in some 'bad guys'. My friend does "Tactical Sight Exploitation" in Afghanistan right now, I guess they just go around after firefights and when stuff blows up and check it all out, gather intel on dropped enemy gear, bomb parts, etc, and start putting together profiles or whatever. That, and taking info 'obtained' from bad guys and checking it, doing intel secret squirrel stuff. So ive got him on the lookout for more weapons to take pictures of. lol.
Tell him thanks for his service and to stay safe. On a side note I would love to see detailed inside and outside pictures of an Al Kadesiah, I doubt there are many in Afghanistan but odder things have happened.

Oh man, good idea! I'd also love to see the configuration inside.
Coils beat me to the rear sight on the rail!

BTW, post five five six!
It's funny how many of the old combloc countries are now over in Afghanistan helping US with the fight. You should see the AK's the Romanians are carrying.
