I've searched all over and can't find templates for an AK-74 receiver. :dunno: I know there are differences from the 47, so I thought I could find a template that had the differences. I must be looking in the wrong places, or are the differences minor enough that they are just adjusted during the build process?

Any help appreciated.

When I started my AK-74 build, I went through the same thing. It seems that there isn't any template specifically for the AK-74. The only real differance that I could find was that the magazine well is smaller.

That issue was addressed in another thread about SAR-2 (same as AK-74)magwell dimensions. I posted the dimensions on that thread.

Also, the rear trunnion on my kit was longer than the standard AK so when I drilled the holes for the rear trunnion the most forward hole interfered with the aft end of the selector lever. Just something to watch out for.

Hope this helps.

The only difference in the template would be the magwell.

Download the Ace template that's in the library, leave the magwell undersized, then trim your receiver to fit using a mag as a guide.

Thanks, That magwell sketch was just what I was looking for. I'll go slowly with the rear trunnion too. :thankyou:

Trent,

I had somehow missed the post containing your magwell drawing, very helpful.
I added it to the library.
