It has been a while since I posted on the Forum, as most of my questions get answered or I can do a search and find the answer. But now I need some help.

JoeKen has done it again! About 1 month ago I ordered two Vulcan receivers. What I received yesterday was two OOW receivers. The OOW receivers are great, but I wanted the Vulcans because I was going to assemble one AK47 and one AK74. I wanted the Vulcans because I could make either rifle with the receivers by modifying the ejecter and mag well opening for either caliber.

Both the OOW receivers are for 7.62mm. I think the ejecter will be OK for the 5.45mm, but the mag well opening is approx. .090 too big. The lower rails are cut to match the magazine dimples. The magazine is VERY sloppy when inserted into the receiver. I can weld more material onto the dimples and make that part fit, but what can I do about receiver well opening? Will the magazine still work OK with the dimple welding and re-machining for a good fit on the AK74 magazine?

Any advice will be very helpful or should I just get another receiver for the AK74? The help is appreciated.

I think for the amount of time your are going to put into it, I would just get another OOW receiver in the 5.45x39. With all the work you put into a build to me it too critical to allow a Joeken screw up to haunt your build and years of enjoyment of the weapon. Joeken, just another name for :shit:

Problem Solved

Scubadvr,

I have taken your advice and will order another receiver. I called JoeKen today and talked with Andrew. He was great and solved the problem to my satisfaction. So far, JoeKen has always made their shipments in the time specified, and I think maybe with Andrews help, they will be a good supplier. Everything I have ordered from them has been as advertised, shipping a little slower than I would like, but I can live with that. Thanks to Andrew for the help!!!
