so that it can be manipulated with the shooting hand thumb, without altering one's firing grip. The issue AK safety makes you either give the enemy an entire extra second in which to kill you (ie, 4 shots fired at you), or else you have to walk around with the safety disengaged, just asking for an AD to happen.

the trouble with the ar is it will take a lot longer to clean every littel grain of sand out before you can fire than it takes to drop a safty. LOL

wrongo. the AR is every bit as reliable as it needs to be, and I can stop ANY ak cold, with just a teaspoonfull of sand. and I bet you'd have to go LOOK for sand, where you live. Most of US hasn't got any, to speak of.
