I wouldn't see why not. The furniture is essentially the same dimensionally. Receivers are the same externally. Fire control group is the same. The only thing that might be different is the FSB I.D. and maybe the RSB width, and those are easy fixes.

I have to admit I've been tempted to buy one of these kits myself for a '74.

IMHO these things are trash. Cheaply made, real goofey trigger feel. Would not waste my money

ok, well first off the trigger linkage uses what would best be desribed as a"wire" to connect it to the main FCG, it has some "give" which causes a very "mushy" trigger feel. It gives me the impression of being disconnected to the FC mechanism. The remainder of the parts look and feel very "toy like" and not consistant with the robust design of the AK. I don't like the replacement sites either, they seem to have some "play' in them that would probably seriously affect accuracy, especially the front one. Oh, I think the pistol grip has too slick of a feel which comes from cheap plastic used in the construction.

It is worth about $80 not the over $200 or more they were asking for it.

Chiroone,

Thanks for your feedback.

I have heard that exact same complaint about a mushy trigger before, and it makes a lot of sense.
The trigger trip wire has bends in it, I can visualize how they would try to straighten out on the trigger pull, prior to releasing, causing that mushy feeling.

I was thinking about it more for the coolness factor, than anything else.
If I was worried about a precision shot, it would probably be the last thing I would reach for.
I'm trying to make each rifle a different variant, and I'm running out of options.
Maybe I'll just go for one of those E German folders like Jack just got.
He seems pleased with it.

Harlen,

Thanks for your input. Nice to see you here.

Sang,

That's a great price, if I could find one for that kind of money, I would definitely go for it.
But at $219, I'm not so sure.

Thanks to the rest of you who responded as well.

ditto here, scubadvr... I see the bends in the wire, and now see what chiroone is talking about.... indeed not worth 200.00+... Thank you, chiroone

yeah... maybe at 80 bucks I'd consider taking a chance and trying to beef it up.... but not 219

There is a line of bullpup stocks, called Muzzlelite, that sell for about $100. I am not aware that there is a Muzzlelite stock for the AK. The plastic in the Muzzlelite stocks is quite flimsy compared to the AKU-94 stock.
Both these types of bullpup stocks suffer from the mushy feel in the trigger pull, but I have shot both types and either is usable, but certainly a trade-off. What I most noted as a negative aspect of the AKU-94 set-up is a lack of balance in the firearm during use.
We have sold a good quantity of the AKU-94 stocks, and very few come back as unsatisfactory.
