OK I had to do it - wanting to collect all the bullpup info into one location.

My bullpup project list includes:

SVU clone
http://www.world.guns.ru/sniper/sn19-e.htm

For the SVU clone, I'd like to get a Romak-3 built and work from there.

Groza clone 5.45
http://www.world.guns.ru/assault/as09-e.htm

Groza clone 5.56

Groza clone 9mm

For the Groza, I'm obviously going to build several models. Heck, I may even make a kit! I'm going to start with an AK-74 as the base rifle, and custom mill the bullpup parts.

The basic bullpup conversion will require some additional parts - a second trigger guard is necessary for the magazine release lever.

If you use a Saiga .223 as the base rifle, you will not need a 2nd trigger guard. That leads me to my next idea - a Saiga .223 conversion into the bullpup config. The advantage here is that since the standard AK-74 FSB is not required on the bullpup, you'll have one less extra part to worry about. And all of the "custom" parts on the Saiga means you won't be butchering a perfectly good AK-74 parts kit to get your custom bullpup.

For a 9mm conversion, you could use the PPSH 9mm barrels from K-Var, a barrel blank from any of the gunsmith stores like e-gunparts.com, etc. and put a barrel extension on it, or go with an SBR rifle.

is the 9mm round on the website for the groza (9x39) a readily available round or would you do one in 9x19instead?

Good point... I'm going to make a "standard" 9x19mm parabellum pistol round version, using Suomi mags. That 9x39 round isn't available in the US and probably won't be available any time soon, if ever.

I'm also looking into barrel blanks and/or parts kits in 7.62x25 and 9x18 makarov. But for now, 9x19. It almost goes without saying that I'll be making a Bizon clone before the 9mm bullpup build.

I just received my Tapco flats today too! Let's see... lots of steel bar in the garage, a new MIG welder, a new 12-ton press, a mini-mill on order... and I just got my 7x10 lathe unpacked and degreased. Hrm what to do? :D

Ahhh, even better price!

For my first one, I'm using a Suomi barrel from the kit on order. ;)

I've looked at my Uzi barrel and you would either need to a) make a sleeve to fit over it, like the normal Uzi retaining nut, only longer, or b) press fit (or thread) a sleeve over it to enlarge to the 22mm trunion size. But it would work.

IN FACT, now that I think about it, you could make a "trunion spacer" from aluminum or brass, because the normal Uzi barrel (obviously) doesn't have that meaty of a trunion. WOuld make it lighter, and easier to work with. I could probably press fit the spacer with relative ease on my 12-ton press. OK now the wheels are really turning on that one.

I'm following this thread closely.
I've always been intrigued with building a bull pup, but turned off by the problems with the available kits.

That Groza is the balls.

Come on Jerry, blow me away.

Steelcore, email sent. Been exchanging emails with Rhino about the Bizon... maybe we should start a Bizon thread? :D

7.62, I'm working on it. Been very very slow. I have to repair my mill and the trigger housing will be well underway. Using a piece of aluminum channel as the prototype but I'd rather have steel to be more like the original... however, IF the aluminum works then I'll be able to cast the parts then clean with a mill :D

Since I'm not using a Krink barrel assembly I'm going to be limited in how close it will resemble the Groza, but I have some ideas that, while overly-complicated, will look more like the Groza using a standard RSB.

Also have an idea for a relatively simple way to make the rear Krink/AKS side-folder trunion that the Groza uses. If this works then I'll be able to make these on the cheap.

I also have another idea for yet another trigger bar that will be 2x the strength of my first design.

Stay tuned... like I said its coming along slowly. Real Life is getting real busy with my work, which is a good thing, but I am trying to get every little bit here and there in that I can.

I had one of those Norincos at one point. Kinda neat, but the iron sites were horrendous. I bought it for $900...I just couldn't justify a grand on a gun I didn't like. It was neat for about 2 hours. I wouldn't mind having a kit though...if built on a donor receiver, it becomes more attractive at $400:)

That said, I still love the bullpup idea, but we need to find a way to mount a scope on a bullpup project...that's the only way to fly IMHO when playing with bullpups.

take care,
Tec
