Not a tank, it's an armored car with a turret. Probably French or German.

Look below the turret and you'll see a large tire like a Humvee.

It is hard to tell exact model from the picture.
It could be a ELAND MK7 with the turret turned all the way around so it is facing backwards.

It could be a Rooikat but hard to tell since the Rooikat is 8 wheeled.

You're either right, or on the right track.

Not a Tiger Tank. Wouldn't that have been something, 60 years after WWII?

I think you're right, or at least on the right track (wheel?). I found this pic of a Panhard AML-90:

It's a 1960 era design which is used in Africa's Ivory Coast!

Here is the vehicle in question:

.....

......................................................... Panhard AML-90? ... or ....

Eland MK7, a version of the ................ or something else?
Panhard 60? For bigger pic,

it is NOT a panhard aml-90
The panhard has only 1 crew hatch on the top.
I would place bets that it is the ELAND MK7 based on the 2 hatches.
It is backed in to allow fast escape.

Looks like a Ferret.

EDIT: Nope the Ferret didn't have a cannon.

The morning newspaper had the same photo with a caption saying it was at a French position. Must be French? Maybe, they gave it that Tiger-look, hoping it would fight German even though made by frogs?
