After my RPK74 is off to the smith and paid for I'm looking to convert a Saiga .223. I'd like to use a 74 FSB that has the threads for either a flash hider or muzzle brake.

Need more info- do you mean to remove the existing FSB, and replace with this? If so, yes. May need to ream it out if it is too small I.D. I don't konw the O.D. size on a saiga .223 barrel.

I'm pretty sure AK-USA uses regular 24mm AK-74 fsb's on their .223 Saiga conversions. you might wanna check their site or shoot 'em an e-mail.

Yeah I did read that at their website after I posted this question. Still waiting on the Saiga.

They do. I recall they had a bunch of stripped '74 front ends at one time.

Here's the plan, I'm going to get one of the $99 74 front end packages soon. I'll strip the FSB off and use it on the Saiga. As for the 74 that the FSB came from its going to be a Tantal clone.

I'm going to follow the same plan - going all the way for a like-real AK-101 clone. I'm going to remove the gas block for the handguard retainer, and put a side folder on it as well. Plan to use converted galil mags (found several conversion how-to links).

You konw I realized that the saiga would be ideally suited for a bullpup conversion... hrm... wheels are turning again....

I'm not really sure what I want to do beyond use the 74 style FSB. I like the idea of a 101 clone but I may want to do something different. I'm planning on using Bulgie mags, because I want to be able to use a five round mag for hunting.
ARe you thinking of using the KVAR bullpup conversion?

Nope, going to fabricate all the bullpup components myself. That was (and still is) the main incentive for me to get my mini mill.

I've gotten most everything laid out in visio, just a matter of implementation. It will look *very* close to a Groza when I'm done.
