i got a franken ak parts set the other day, and has what i assume is a chinese underfolder. after using the old rear stub to mark my holes with, i found that in the closed position, it swings way past were the forearm, and even the barrel will be. did these stocks not lock closed?? whats the deal?

They did "lock" closed, but on my pre-89 CHICOM folder it is not locked up solid.

It has about 1/4 of movement from the handguard to where the lock is.

I suspect that you are not getting a full lockup or your holes on the receiver are too big.

the holes are ok, i was going to weld up and redrill the holes when i decided to reassemble the folder on the old stub, and found the original rifle had to have done the same thing.i am not familier with any uf stock, so i thought maybe there was a latch that kept it folded. i will go ahead and weld it up, i should have checked it in the folded pos. before i drilled anything
