I found a good way to get the feed ramp dimple created. Hammered a square-head bolt and used metal bar stock for the backing.

I was looking at my welder friend's welding vise-grips that come in all shapes and sizes... it made me think about how I can make use of this for dimpling.

After looking at it, I think vise grips won't have the power to invoke a dimple. I can get a C-Clamp to replicate this. That will have the power to do so. The trick will be, to mill a plate to attach to the c-clamp. Better yet I suppose is to keep the plate separate, and thereby allow whatever clamping is available. I'm thinking that 4" C-Clamps are less than $3.00 each from HF, so parts would be rather cheap.

I'm moving in a few weeks so I'm going to have to put everything on hold until probably the end of June or more likely July... thus no dimple dies, rental rivet squeezers, or '74 floorplates until then :(

I put all the pics of the dimple work on my page here:

Jerry-- I'm constantly amazed at your stuff.

I wanna go out and get a piece of 1.25" keystock, mill the female into it, and have a one piece does all. Hummm

Well thanks! I have tried to make a "one stop" information store for when all the new builders start up with questions... there's a great deal of information on my site that is taken from other people's posts. In fact most of the "info" is from others. Obviously the build pics are all mine :D I do try to give credit where it is due.
