dissipator 16" vs 20" lw

since i got these extra lowers i have been trying to figure out what i want to build next.

i like the retro KISS type of builds and was going to build a ar-15 20" light weight to look like a late 60s-early 70s m16a1.

but brownells has the excellent daniel defense 4150 chrome lined 16" m4 government profile barrel with 1-7" twist on sale for $157 with 99 cent shipping.

so i may alter my plans and build a replica of a colt dissipator carbine 16" model 605--which looks very much like an A1 with a short barrel.

anybody build a dissy from a m4 barrel?:nanabang:

I never built one. But the Guberment gave me one. It was full auto too.
Plus all the free ammo I wanted.
S.O.B.s made me give it back. Dirty rats. :)

gobberments are like that--chickenshit all the way to the top!-LOL!

right now i would settle for some cheap ammo --you know like the good old days $44 for a 1280 round case type of thing--LOL
Build the dissy. I never even thought of doing that in a 605 clone...

yea--that's what i been thinking about doing. i got a YHM under the hand-guards gas block on the way and some triangle hand-guards and some a2's coming from sarco.

hell i might convert one of my 7.62x39s--now that would be wild!--LOL:nanabang:
yes, i've built one.. used a cmmg mid-contour 1x7 barrel, trimmed her down to super lightweight, looks exactly like a shorter version of a government profile barrel,

i used an A3 flattop, but picked up an A1 carry handle, and now swappin out front sight with an A.R.M.S folding FSB.and plum crazy lower. extream lightweight rifle.. oh .. and a three prong flash hider. :)

not a perfect retro, but heck ? at 20'' feet most people would never know the differance. ha.

its THE most FUN rifle i own. accurate, and sooooo very usefull.

havings said that , i do have an extra pencil barrel, and a fulton armory slickside A1 upper..
plus an extra A1 stock....:)
needs to gets one of them no-dak-spuds ''retro'' lowers...:)

its been alotta fun building my dissy, everone should have one, love that middy gas !!

i just finished up converting my wilson H-bar 16" 7.62x39 to a "dissy" with a flat top upper and A1 stock with old school triangle hand-guards.

damn cool/retro rifle with that bushmaster carry handle/sight i got from amazon. the wilson 7.62x39 looks almost "nam-era".

a tip for building a dissy-- those YHM gas blocks they sell for like $21 shipped fit perfect on CAR or mid-length with the triangle handguards. and you have more than enough room with the round a2 handguards!

it looks a lot like those old colt 605s except the barrel is about 1" longer.
soooo... how did your ''clone'' model 605 turn out ?

it is a very nice piece! shot it some yesterday. runs like a clock!

looks very retro. the 7.62x39 seems to be a very nice fit to the a1 stock and full rifle buffer. the CAR length gas system runs very well with the low pressure 7.62x39 rounds. everything fits as it should. everything rock solid fit too.

looks cool as hell with the old "duckbill" three prong flash hider on there!

i would post photos but my $10 camera wouldn't do the dissy justice!
