FAL or G3?

Comparing two different rifles, but I'm interested in buying one of the two. They seem to command roughly the same price.I'm leaning towards the G3 more, as I like the collapsible stock, and more accessory options. But I never shot either of the two. The Fal seems to be more bulky/weigh more than the G3. I just would like a semi-auto assault rifle in .308(My pistol's not cutting it anymore). What do you think?

I have both and like both of them. If I had to choose one it would be my FAL. The FAL feels smoother when firing. With the G3 I can feel the inertia of the bolt carrier moving to the rear and forward when firing more than with the FAL. I also like the FAL buttstock more than the G3. But again, both are fine rifles.
I two have both rifles. The G3 is a very nice rifle, The FAL is a great rifle.
The FAL has a sturdy milled receiver, the G3 a cheezy stamped piece of tin.
have you looked at FAL add ons at DSA?? Just about anything you could want.

Thats the problem I had w/ the G3. I never handled one, but I did handle a cetme, and it felt like a flimsy piece of tin. Thanks for the site, completely forgot about them. I think I'm gonna go with the Fal. If/when I get one is a different story. I just purchased a PSL not to long ago, and a AR15 upper, so....... Thanks for everyone's suggestion.
I lurrrrrves the FAL, it's a great design, and the metric pattern at least has amazing ergonomics, especially compared to the G3 rifles. Try doing a mag change in a non paddle type mag latch receiver on a g3 and you'll know what I'm talking about. Never fired an HK so I have no opinion on that aspect.

If you can afford the FAL, then definitely upgrade to it.
Own both and like both, but the FAL (mines an STG-58) is a lot nicer. Adjustable gas regulator is a plus.
It seems like I can find a couple for $700+. Should I stay away from the century made, and hesse ones? Are the Imbel and DSA ones the best?
I own several of both.

I've fired both in semi and full auto extensively.

What you're asking is akin to asking a father which of his two sons is his favorite.

I honestly can't recommend one over the other.

My advise is to get both.

Yes and Yes. On the second question this of course excludes preban guns.
The G3 is a good rifle and the FAL is a "Battle Rifle". Choose accordingly.
