I got her done! Thanks to HCPookie, 7.62X39 and many others who kindly offered help and guidance. Got the Russian AKM PLO kit from the Joeken group buy. Did a rivet built on an OOW receiver I got from Vector Arms, useing the "HCPookie bolt cutter riveters". US parts are; receiver, G2 fcg, Arsenal gas piston, followers and floor plates. Took it to the range yesterday and test fired it. Had some failures to eject till I removed the buffer, that it ran great. I know a lot of guys refinish the stock and metal on their builds, but I wanted it to have that real, lived-in, AK look, so I left all finishes as received. The receiver was in the white so I had it parked after I installed the trunions. It's not the prettiest, but it's the jewel of my collection. As I can't post pics here, I've included a link to that other site where it's easy to post pics.

Hotbarrel, the stock, grip and lower handguard are laminated. I quess I'm one of the lucky few that actually got what they promised. It was a good wait, then I called and by shear luck I must have got a new employee who didn't know the master plan, and he screwed up and actually sent it! I figured I'd press my luck and ordered a receiver, that was a mistake. After another long wait, I canncled the order and picked one up, locally, from Vector.

That looks *NICE*. May just have to get me one of those!

OK, gotta ask, what's "the master plan" from joeken - are they not shipping these? On their site for $209 using the gunsnetpromo ffl logon discount code.

The master plan seems to be, take all the orders you can and put off delivery as long as possible. Well, I got mine and I know of others who received theirs, but I've heard of others that are still waiting. Their service seems to be hit and miss. I'm happy with what I've received from them but don't know if I'd gamble again. If I can figure out the pic posting thing, I'll post some closeups of the receiver/rivets.

Where did you get your kit? Jack

NO, you didn't get that from "JOKING", they are still supposed to be delivering Romanian kits that were Preban. Come on, where did you get it. I would believe John Fing Kerry before I would believe that Jk actually came through with what they promised. I heard JK was too busy writing scipt for Terry Heinz Kerry.

well they came through for SOME of the guys they took money from, not all. yes guys are still wishing for a kit HAHAHA. HOY. also they are throwing folders from china and saying they came with a russin gun. mayn guys have proven that the china stocks could never have been on a russin gun. jokein is just tossing parts togeather to make a kit and get top dollar for it.
it is the MOST expensive kit I have ever bought and not what even what I paid for. I did however get laminated grip, front end and stock, I like all laminated. but it is a mismatched kit and I paid for a macthing number kit, and I allready posted about the cut in the bolt.
shoot I could have bought 4 AMD 65's from tapco in better shape , matching, as ordered for what I paid for the AKM. oh well live and learn.

Glad you received your kit hotbarrel. I ordered one from JoeKen as well, received mine in about a month. I'm not completely happy with my kit, but it's mostly matching. Still waiting on a Global receiver with corresponding serial number. If I were to do it over again I would have bought a Russian kit over at Gunbroker.

I do not want to hi-jack this thread but I am wondering if any of you guys are going to keep the Russin kits unbuilt. I do not think I will build it because I do not want to put a US made reciever on it. If it is as vaulable as stated then to build it up with US part count and then to fire it cant help the value , rite?? just my thought anyone else have any thoughts ?

If I had one I'd build it to shoot. Would be a good beater rifle, although that wood looks really really nice!

One additional bonus, is that it would be put to work for the powers of good, rather than the powers of evil. ;)

Thank you Shadow. I'm going to leave the wood as is, I kinda like it that way. As for accuracy, It shoots a little high, but is right on windage and groups nicely. I'd like to adjust the sight post up a bit to bring the POI down, but I can't get it to budge and I don't want to break it. May just learn to live with it.

Is it stuck like a rusty bolt? Try putting some penetrant on it, let it sit a while, then hit it again. May also try heating it with a propane torch to loosen it up.

Twisted the tits off a front sight adjuster, trying it the other day, it's way stuck. Looks clean, no rust or crud, just won't move. I'll put some penetrating oil on it and leave it over night, try it again tomorrow.
