I had a spare foregrip and decided to see if I could do it. I did! These handguards were your basic G3/HK91 wide handguard. They didn't have the lip for the normal folding bipod, don't know why... also it is grey... probably from a "ban friendly" build I would guess.

I just sat down and used a dremel sander and lots of patience. It locks up quite well!

Now I have the benefit of the heavy bipod AND the wide foregrip:

I don't quite know what you did to the hand guard? But I know you made it so the bipod is at the rear rather then the front.

I like it and think you did a great job, looks factory made. Just the wrong color

That's the HK Heavy Bipod. It is only usable with the basic G3 "thin" grips due to how the wide handguard slips farther back. I cut on the back of the wide handguard and notched it to let the heavy bipod sit flush.

Here it is with the typical G3 handguard:

... and here's the normal wide handguard with the "standard" bipod:

Note the wide handguard covers the trunion area all the way back to the magazine which makes the heavy bipod usable only with the G3 style handguard, thus my wish to tweak the wide handguards. HK makes a short wide handguard for the "G3-K" model (shorter barrel) but it still won't work with the bipod.

Yeah that's that German Police $400 bipod. Still unsure if it was a good buy. But HK still hates me so it must be OK

Nice find on the heavy Bipod... I have 4 G3's and never been able to find (or afford) the heavy bipod.

got any pics with it off the rifle (for potential replication on some basic form)?
