Got called out to a major structure fire at 2:00 AM, just got home. I am sore all over, really feel my age after a fire like that. December seems to have more fires than any other month. It's times like this that I really wish I had two lungs.

EDIT: Hell, it ain't even December, see what I mean.

Ditto to what aviator said. You need to get some rest! I would bet that during December you'll see even more fires due to all the electrical components and Christmas trees running. Stay safe and don't over do yourself, Lupe! :)

Yea, what Sandy said.

I've seen some boneheads put up trees weeks before Christmas and never even water them.
Not only do they look like hell, they make fine tinder.

Where I am, a lot of folks rely on wood stoves for heat. And a lot of folks have shake roofs but no spark arrester in their woodstove chimney. With rather predictable results. A few years ago a friend's house and all his belongings were reduced to ashes, although in his case the fire was caused by, well, for the short version of the story, alcohol. Arguably his own damned fault, but still a tragedy.

What's the deal, Lupe? You in a VFD? Alternately, are you an arsonist?

PS Yep, getting old sucks. But consider the alternative.

Yep, been a firefighter for the last 15 years, man we can't find any young guys to take our place. The youngest since Sandy left is 55 years old.

I think you knew my daughter Sandra from brandX.

Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night
by: Dylan Thomas

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Custer,
I can descend these steps but one by one
there was a time I'd fly down two by two
Does this mean my race is nearly run?
And what I owe the piper due

Yet, when I at last reach the bottom stair
and see outside a pretty face or thigh
I bid farewell to thoughts of dark despair
And dash off as I did in days gone by
:) :)

Sandy,
She is doing great and loves the great northwest. I'll pass along your greeting, thanks.
