Is it common for the carrier to drag, hang as it goes over these stock hammers in the Sars. I noticed this and thought the piston, carrier junction was hanging/misaligned but w/o the recoil spring on it rides true thru the trunnionand tube. Seems to be a good drag over the humped back hammer. Thoughts please, thanks, J R...

The hangup on the hammer is common knowledge with many AK's. The way I ensure that the gas piston isn't hanging up (happened on my SAR-1) was to remove the FCG and see how the carrier/gas piston moves on the rails. If it's smooth operating without the FCG then it's the hammer hangup. If the operation is still rough it could be the piston (as was my case).
